Here are the numbers...1974 440 standard. Should be all same=same inside as my 1973 440 standard.

Output shaft splines change in 1976 so you should be good. Personally I'd just keep the front planet with its original output shaft. 3 or 4 pinion makes no difference. We run 3 pinion over 800 hp with no issue.

I will be merging the best bits together. The one I just got today has 4 pinion front and rears and a hardened output shaft so I will be using those along with the front pump from the 73' and tail housing from the 74. I have not taken apart the clutchs yet, so I don't know which steels and frictions are better,...

For what its worth. Both my sons 850hp turbo car and my 900hp car run stock input and output shafts. The front planetary carrier splines will strip far before the planets fail. His runs a trans brake so it has a steel front planetary carrier. mine still runs 3 pin planets, curently 550 low 9 second passes.
