A/C won't take gas in

Hello all finally got to the point of filling my ac up with new gas .I've fully rebuilt the whole system & i mean everything compressor lines ,hose ac/heater box evaporator , condenser.So i took it to the Ac guy today he ran the vac for an hour check for leaks all good to go so he started putting gas in compressor kicked in as normal but would only take 220g of gas then it stopped taking gas he couldn't work out why he thought maybe his gas bottle was low on gas so he's ordered another bottle so i have to take it back another day. What do you guys think does this sound right or am i being paranoid in thinking it may be something else

If the system held vacuum and then started taking freon but only took a small amount, my guess would be that his tank went empty.

I'm hoping so that would be a good out come as everything else seems to take the long road, fingers crossed.Also i found interesting is that the compressor was turning over at a very low gas level is this normal as i know the newer system will shut down the compressor when low on gas

A full system is around 18oz (what mine took), so the low pressure switch is likely below what you already put in. What refrigerant is used in Australia?

We use R134a in Australia you are correct it should take around 500 grams which i was told by the A/C guy which converts to around 18 oz
