Ah crap...

If you can transfer and keep your present pay, DO IT!

I was booted at 28 years of service at the age of 47.
For 9 years I haven't been able to find a job even close to the pay I was making.

Work as long as you wish, but it feels much better, psychologically, to leave when You want to.

This is what we did with both financial planners, but obviously we should run the new criteria to see if 2 years early will make much of a difference.

Health benefits are DoD :)
keep going 2 years you will do on your head easy. also moving out of ny is always a good idea.

As stated, check the bottom line if you go now. I retired at 52 and never looked back!! I have no payments and owe no one. That's very important. I loved my job to, but life is short and getting shorter. Good luck Matt!!

Agree with ^ Blacker, may depend on where you will be transferring to. If it's somewhere you would like to live during your retirement, then why not. I was unlucky/lucky and retired at 51 due to a workplace accident. Screwed up shoulder, but it's been 18 years of 6 Saturdays and a Sunday and I ^highly^ recommend retirement if financially possible, and I liked my job.. I also live in WNY and will be leaving in next year or so (God willing) to follow my grand kids. If your wife is on board.......see ya.

Sounds like you have the money to bail. Also sounds like you love your job and want to move anyway. I’d see where the job was - take it and explore a little. If you were going to stay in NY I’d bag it. Since you’re going to move anyway why not do so a little early and make some extra bread while seeing a different area of the country. I bailed at 57 because I couldn’t take the stress any longer and I had the means. No regrets

I can tell you one thing. The 13 years since my retirement seemed to go a lot faster than the previous 13. I think the clocks are moving faster or something.
