American Sniper

"Enemy At The Gates" is another great movie about snipers...scenario is Stalingrad in WWII.

That American killing terrorist a kilometer away was doing his job and doing it profiecently. Terrorist started these events the only thing the military is guilty of is changing their tactics to deal with the sorry s.o.b.

Some in the press have called Chris a coward for killing at a distance and yet fall all over themselves praising Obama for ordering all the drone strikes.

I saw a very good show on the history channel about snipers. The solider they featured who was a sniper in VN,that man is a true hero. He saved countless lives for sure, that guy was brave and had nerves of steel. Im sorry i can't remember his name

One of the most famous snipers in Vietnam was Carlos Hathcock (Marine scout/sniper). He does not have as high of a kill count (confirmed) as Kyle, but he pulled off some crazy stalks and shots. His story would make an awesome movie.
I served as a police sniper for five years. One of our guys was a sniper in Somalia. We were very competitive on the range.

These guys carry a huge amount of baggage when they come home.

US Marine Viet Nam Vet. one hell of a guy and yes there is always baggage

I don't want to take anything away from the movie so I will make a new post about Carlos .

I read his book "96 confirmed kills" When you see a movie where someone gets shot through the scope lens of their own rifle, Carlos Hathcock indeed shot an enemy sniper through his own scope lens.

I just saw the movie yesterday, thought it was very good.
The man was definitely a hero in my eyes, but then again all who serve, or have served (especially in combat) are heroes to me.
These people are protecting my way of life while risking their own life, how can you not love them?

Read his book, "Marine Sniper". Shooting a bycycle out from under a kid at 800 yards? for carrying weapons because he didn't want to shoot the kid? Ended up capping him because the kid picked up a weapon and started spraying lead in his general direction. Incredible stuff. Lesser technology than today. Modified his own weapons. Read it. Required reading in the USMC.

With all due respect to Kyle, Hathcock has been and always will be the "man" when it comes to snipers. I'm sure Chris Kyle would agree.

I thought that I would add this list for you guys to read and yes Carlos is my guy
