Anyone have a Hooker wrapped around their Mini?

Here is the header that I took off my car. Everywhere the wrap was the tube was shot, crumbled like egg shells. Rest of the header was fine. Granted they were probably 20 years old. If they weren't wrapped they'd still be on the car.
New headers have been on for about 8 years without wrap. Starter is still cranking away. It's the same starter that was installed the same time the first set headers were bolted on...20+ years ago.

I think you might be overthinking it. With full size starters I had some heat issues. But once I switched to minis I never had a heat soak issue, even after repeated track passes and restarts. As long as the starting system is in good shape they can get too hot to touch and still show no signs of loss of ability. They really are the best upgrade anyone can do.

Because of my T56 bellhousing I had to go back to a full size starter with my Hookers, 2 summers with no problems. No wrap, sheild or anything else. I do wish I could still run the mini starter though.
