Yes yes it's an evil hack your arm off flex fan but plain and simple the jag clutch will not keep my 440 Belvedere cool.

5 blade viscous fan or 6 blade Hayden fan. If I can keep moving it'll run at 180 get stuck in traffic like today and it'll see 240 after 15 mins. New rad with a shroud. Car was on the dyno for tuning timing is all good you name it.

Thinking the above might pull enough air and not sound like a B-29 on take off like a straight fixed fan.

No! it is not the solution. Keep looking, make sure advance springs are set right on distributor. Check for hot spots on heads with laser, check exhaust temps at headers. these fans solve nothing. It is an air flow issue at idle, mke sure air under car is closed off to the shroud. Check head gasket with CO2 tester. Did you test thermostat? Did you check for collapsed hose bottom, make sure back of water pump impeller is within .060 of back of pump housing, use silly putty and press into pump housing and press impeller into the putty. Remove and Mic it with telescoping mic. Beg or borrow. Are you running to lean at idle? Popping from carb???

Its a good fan. But i would also check the fan depth on the shroud to make sure you getting maximum air pull across the radiator. I have a similar problem with air flow at low speed but its a built 440 in an A body. my Road Runner never gets above 190.

I would use this fan clutch (TRW eaton fc-28)

These are NOS direct replacements;they are the right height and made for the weight of a metal fan, not the jags plastic one. there is one on ebay for $455 and these are way cheaper and only a few left.

I would couple it with the aluminum 7 blade 5 rivet 18" fan used on the street wedge motor and police cars also A/c chrysler imperials. It has an aggressive pitch. I just bought another one for one of my cars and have a source for one they offered to me for $100 bucks. You can post on the imperial boards if you want to try to find one cheaper. I have an april 67 super stockers magazine that suggest this fan as an upgrade even when our cars were new. It is mopar # 2121013 but they are not marked on unit as such, so are hard to find. below is a pic of one, note rivet pattern as this is the only correct one:

Put all of the above in one of these and you should run nice and cool:

The clutch is 3/4" from the rad, the fan looks to be a little more then half in the shroud.

Thermostat is a brand new 180* Mr. gasket high flow, it replaced a stock style 160* which was a bit better as it took longer for the heat soak to set in.

This issue happens when IDLEING in traffic not RPM, RPM will drive the temp back down and even when watching under the hood at 3000rpm I see no change in the rad hoses.

The car went through it's paces on the dyno today and with the shops fans pointed at it never got over 180* A/F is on the fat side to the point that even after bringing it down in jets and rods it was still rich -Basically the 800CFM AVS just doesn't suit the car and would need to be changed to bring the ratio to a better number as it can go no leaner-

Timing is 15* initial all in at 34* and 2600rpm not a hint of pinging. No popping no issues.

It's a brand new direct fit rad from Wizard that bolts to the factory points and is flush with the rad support on both sides and the bottom. There is a small 1/2" gap at the top where the tank is which I plan to plug with somthing that will handle the heat... just not sure what yet.

The Jag clutch -2675- is my main suspect. Depending on which catalong you read it's either a standard clutch or heavy duty. Even when hot and shut off the clutch just doesn't seem to have much drag when you turn it by hand.

I'm also looking for an 18" 7 blade mopar clutch fan but nothing local yet.

Going to send an e-mail about the clutch you linked on the site. Just want to check it's measurement before ordering.

Those fans are terrible STAY AWAY I was driving a 440 6 71 roadrunner pedal to the metal and a fan blade came off the car started shaking harshly cut the battery cable clean off and dented the mint hood and there was a warning sent to repair shops in my area of the dangers of those style of fans

If there has been so many incidents with them how can they still be on the market with no warnings?

For the same reason you can still buy a lawnmower....so many idiots pick them up and use them as hedge trimmers, and then wonder why all their fingers fall off.

I wouldn't buy one of those fans either - I know a few people who have had blades fly off at random and do damage.

No reponse from Hagens, would like some info/measurements before I drop $140 on a fan clutch.

Put some foam top and bottom on the rad today even went so far as to take metal heat tape to all the joints on the shroud with no change. Also ordered the missing rad to hood seal for what it's worth.

I had one of those fans on a hopped up 72 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351C and it worked flawlessly. It won't be as quiet as a clutch fan set up but it moves a lot of air and it worked very well for me. I have a stock clutch fan set up on my 440 GTX. The fan clutch is a replacement sourced from Advance Auto Parts. Now, I haven't driven my car much since I've been working on it but it will idle in my drive all day long without getting hot.
