I first heard Ann Wilson in 1975 before they got famous in a bar in Great Falls Montana ... she has the single most unbelievable voice I've ever heard. Put on your head phones and listen to her rendition of "Without You" ... I'm a huge Karen Carpenter fan also but Ann gets my vote hands down.

Well if you want old school slow, look up “In Dreams” by Sissel on YouTube. Cover on the man Roy Orbison.

I think a lot has to do with the genre..
Motown -Aretha, Dianna, Tina
Rock- Ann Wilson, Lita, Gwen
Pop- Belinda Carlisle, Whittney, Christina
Country- Shania, Faith, Patty Loveless, Martina, and many others

Absolutely agree it depends on the genre. ...

50's-60's-70's ladies had it goin' on

Dianna Ross, Aretha, Martha Reeves, Dionne Warwick
Gladys Knight, Mary Wells, even Tina Turner had her moments

I loved the ol' Motown sound
when music was great

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Whitney before her death, belted out the best National Anthem
EVER , her lifestyle & choice of husband stunk, but she had a voice

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Reba isn't a slouch either

--------------------------------------------------------------------

really depends on what era, what genre

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Alannah Myles is pretty sultry
