Best Looking Car Ever Made

The aero trend got bucked in 2005 with the mustang and Charger.

Now aero is somewhat back "in" but designers no longer feel constrained to put out purely aerodynamic designs with no style components.
Agree. But the 2005 Mustang, 2008 Challenger and 2010 Camaro were essentially modern copies of the old design - the rare cases when the car companies bucked the aero trend but it wasn't to make anything unique. It was just to appeal to folks like us who like the old car designs (and it worked too).

What happened to auto designers to give us such bland cars and the buying public to accept them?
I agree. There are only three new cars that I really like. Wide body Hellcat Challengers and Chargers, then Mustangs.

My daily drivers through the 90's were-

1990-91: 70 Super Bee
1991-93: 71 torino
1993-97: 73 Duster

In 97 I bought a 93 Dakota. Not really "aero" but more so than the previous Dakota styling.

I really 'like' many of the forward-look 59-60 or 57-61
MoPars, Desotos, Plymouths, a bunch in the 30's to early 40's too
many other cars of that era,

I really 'like' 57 DelRio 2dr Ford Ranchwagon
I really 'like' the 57 Ford Fairlane 2dt HT

Pure Vision Steve Strobe did a great job making one beautiful

vs more stock-ish day 2 styling

vs sedan Gasser style

or 57 Fairlane 500 Town Victoria HT
I'm not a fan of red cars, but this looks good

or especially the 49-51 Ford Tudurs, especially businessmen's coupes
or the convertible

but;
IMHFO they are not in the 'best looking' class

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I should have added ** to my already huge list of cars
I find "good looking", but not the 'best looking'
**69 Daytona Charger
& the **70 Superbird/Roadrunners
as long as it doesn't have body-colored painted wheels & poverty caps
at least have some 15" Magnums/Road Wheels

but;
they IMHFO aren't in the "best-looking category", more a badass car category
cars with history & a great story
That I'd love to own

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know a lot won't agree, I don't care it what I find/found good looking
at the time

Hell one of my favorite-looking cars (not including Pick-ups/4x4s),
I have owned is a
a 1978 Z28 T-tops, white, tan/saddle interior
with that orange, brown, tan & black (?) Z28 graphics,
it was really a great car for the period too,
my only dislike about it was an auto
I think it was probably the best-looking Domestic car from 1978

needs the tan/saddle interior & t-tops

I liked the Camaro and Firebirds from the 70s as well.

I too also liked the gen 2 Camaro’s. I had a 79 Z28 while in the military and I drove that car everywhere. I once did 3 360’s in the middle of Manhattan, NY. I had a passenger that will serve as my witness.

They are all buds from college and they bounce from 1 car co/design firm to another, hence they all look alike. Same stampings for various brands over seas. At least Dodge got it different, THANK GOODNESS!!

I just remembered this one. Sunbeam Tiger. A Sunbeam Alpine with a 289 Ford in it.
My first exposure to one was in the introduction to the old “Get Smart” TV show in the mid sixties.
It and Barbara Feldon were the best looking things on the show.
