Blade's Ego thread: Sculpture, Cars & Airplanes

Photon, right on that could be possibly Dick Ruzzin's car You posted, that be the one w/ vette 327 that was built for Bill Mitchell...He's put 60,000 on its clock, seen the Youtube vid w/ him & car?

LOL: The famous Bill Mitchell car...I've seen pics and heard the stories!

Bill Mitchell!
VP of styling for GM er...Chevrolet (GM)

So powerful a persona in the Hierarchy of General Motors that he had a 67 Z-28 Convertible built for himself...
A true 1 of 1

That my friends is HORSEPOWER!

Not the car, the MAN himself...

His wife wanted a 4-door Z-28...but that is another story LOL

Yep Ski...big Bill...too big for the goose...one lap on the test track and He said raffle it off, can't fit, rides like s--t....the rocket scientists forgot to take the shipping clamps off of the coils...could be why it rode like s--t. Ruzzin made out BIG, a one of a kind Goose check the utube video....a 4 door Z/28.....sounds like something i would fawn over

Man that is some seriously cool stuff bladecutter, You've got some mad skills! Can't imagine the time it takes to polish those props but they sure look great along with all of the other cool pieces you've made.

Amazing craftsmanship and artistry Bladecutter, very unique indeed, keep up the good work and keep posting your work for us.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank You 747...i have worn a couple different hats in my Life.....The arylic glass thing on da' boids is tedious, slow, demanding, can turn to s quick if Your're not always ahead of the cut. The sculpture,,,just a translation from Hell's Kitchen....i already know You could do it w/ little outside direction.....so much is the same zen as bodywork...what's bitchen with the alloy is no matter what You cut in, file, 40 80 yata....always a reflection to work by. i know you know what a vacation that can be compared to feeling and guessing when in lower grits and all is opaque....the other side of that coin is no fill....gotta find the lowest low and bring everything else down to it.

You know the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over & over expecting different result each time....that's production bodywerk in a nut at the end of the day bodywork is dealing with shape...that constitutes ART FORM, no matter how much the world tries to beat it into submission, homgenize and turn it into mechanix, it ain't going to happen....insurance companies are screwing everyone...the quality quotient of work coast to coast is awful...thank the insurance scavenger and the fact that noone will allow for generous CURE times for all materials used....post cure ia bitch and the biggest speed bump in turning out a finish that won't shrivel up...and that in big part is the fault of the customers too. When they're unhappy and bitching bbloody hell at the po mo fo try to fix the car with the restrictions that are thrust upon him.... when a customer gets too onery, i remind them who F-ed the thing up in the first place....other guys fault or not, it's still on their watch and if they'd been paying attention chances are 99.999999% they would have avoided the hit. Been dealing these headaches all my Life, being slave to this crap, but now i pick & choose, work on em when i'm inspired and do something else when i'm not....and the next one is MINE....yyyeeessss! You are a bright and resourceful being...You cut & polished Your car....it's very wet looking...the aluminum would follow in short order. Thankx for stopping in 747.....have a kil'r summer Dude....jsb

Thank You MT...John...i'm jimi i'm a jump over in so-cal. I'm thinking about a 66/67 of late...68-69 Coros always been my flavor, but cars like yours have been growing on me. Tell You, i've really grown to appreciate the lines of 68-69 coro 4 door i think the quarters are prettier than two doors. Thankx for stopping over...another month or so i'll upload some more...will have a wec site before too much longer i hope..the domain name is ours, just got to get it completed. Aluminations.....stevensbridgewaterdot> Peace

One More

I worked on three of these in 1997 @ Santini's....i'm pretty sure this is one i did the cut & polish on....this is a web image.....there's a turquoise one i did and another red one that kept window line. There were supposed to have been 25 total made for Japan, but i think less than 10 came real, and sold domestically. The quarter trim is Steve Stanford's puss air brush/sword brush....for a pos fiberglass quarter, it's not too wiggly...paint is flat because lst stage was 800 wet on 6" D/A w/ interface pad, then manual block wet 1000, 1500, 2000.....not as flat as well massaged lacquer job, but pretty damn close for spongy assed urethane. majestic nomad.jpg458723_15993105_1969_Dodge_Charger+500.jpgDodge_Charger_500_(Auto_classique).jpgThe Charger 500's (diff cars) are just something i adore....roofline is so clean w/o the imposing wing clouding the issue. I remeber in 73, Hot Rod took one box stock to Bonneville, geared Her up and ran 225 mph with Her....i'd want one these in my stable before a Daytona.....just a better looking car...like this...a chick knocked out in fine formal gown, jewelry...the nine's. won't mind driving up to the valet at the the snobnose event and getting out of this......easy as olive oil.....not as many takers on the Daytona, unless it's a NASCAR event or any CAR related event. To a Womans screwey sense of maturity, the winged car looks teen age much more so than this.

Hellraiser of Old

My Dad's letter presented to Him by Douglas Aircraft along with their first ever set of Wings. Dad was a test pilot w/ Douglas & Martin during war. Douglas, Martin & Lockheed handled most B-17 prod..in less than 2 years He racked 1300 hours in B-17's alone, He flew SBD's & A-20's also very fond of the A-20...had a pic of Him in one , inverted, on the deck. There was a LOT of sabotage on the assembly lines, cut cables, severed hydraulic lines etc....so my old man was shakin out the birds to make sure that they were usable for the combat Vets. While at Martin, flying my fav the B-26, He was doing shakedowns on the delivery runs....one way or another, even if it's bribery or blackmail....i'm going up in kermit's bird bvefore i check out....Kermit bought that Bird from David Tallichet and Aero Trader @ CNO did the partial resto...i've done plexiglass work for Aero trader in past. Kermit's bird was built from 3 Marauders that were backpacked out of Yukon...a squad that got lost & ran out of fuel...the ice preservation was tits.Dads letter.jpgguess it woul help to remember to post the letter...duh

neat thread and awsome artwork blade! I wish I had only the talent you have in your little finger!

Thank You Road Runner. If You've done body work, which my guess is You have at least dabbled, then You would adapt to the sculptur because bodywerk is a lot of sculpture...i don't care if it just paint....don't sand it accurately, things will distort to a degree. The beauty of the alloy is the malleability, will hold definition carved in w/o major headache of tring to keep definition in place...soft body materials are a bitch to keep defined...and that no matter if in '))' file, 40 grit> there is always a reflection to work by instead of vainly feeling and trying to visualize the result......but no fill, so to de-ripple with long aluminum straps, gotta pick the lowest low and bring everything else around it down to it evenly....the day i can take on some help is the day i canvass body shops....bodwerk....sculpture....shrug....one is a whole lot less real estate and one pays a whole lot better.....the art is my due for the 43 years i spent in hell's kitchen, often werking in the red, but maintaining a solid ethic of effort. Have a good weekend Brother, & Thanx for checking in...i remember exchanging some messages with You the other day...We are body shop comrades right....too bad we're so far apart....You can do this stuff Man...i know it

HAY BLADECUTTER, LOVE YOUR ART , I LOVED MOTO-ART WHEN THEY HAD THERE SHOW ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO I THINK , COULD'NT AFFORD A PROP SO I GOT A TEE-SHIRT THAT I STILL HAVE . PEACE :tshirt:DSC_0534.jpg

Bruzilla....Very Nice! Are You building for screen sets? I heard You are fond of the Steelers. I'd sure like to know what A/C types You've been on Thanks for the Chime......"Creature" was always a favorite

Bru flew on the P3 Orion's I believe....
I'm a fan of them, when "WE" (ARIA) were flying some of our missions we would request the P3 support to "clear the air" and scope out the "Russian Fishing Trawlers" with ALL the antennas you could imagine.
Funny, they never seemed to be interested in fishing for fish...those Russian Trawlers!

Kallitta bird.jpgThis is the Hamilton Westwind ll Beech 18 conversion that was built for Connie Kallitta...yup..the Drag Racer....i worked at Hamilton in 75, worked on this bird and the other 18 conversion w/ Pratt PT-6's. This bird here is Garrett dash 10's..had a 9 foot stretch, split evenly fore and aft of main spar, cabin was raised 9", dubble cargo doors and exterior main spar strap. The Westwinds with PT-6's could run coast to coast 20 minutes behind Lear 24's. Kallitta flew the bird until 93 when a wing fire crippled her...on ground fortunately.

Hay, thought i would put these up this was one of the greatest air shows ive been to and ive been to a few, "the gathering of mustangs and legends " there were close to 100 p-51 mustangs from all over the world some were crated and shipped in for the event thought i would share them with you i shot these with a nikon d-300 DSC_0540.jpgDSC_0541.jpgDSC_0554.jpgDSC_0557.jpgDSC_0510.jpgDSC_0503.jpgDSC_0478.jpgDSC_0527.jpgDSC_0536.jpgDSC_0516.jpgDSC_0293.jpgDSC_0561.jpgDSC_0545.jpgDSC_0519.jpgDSC_0524.jpgDSC_0302.jpgDSC_0333.jpgDSC_0343.jpgDSC_0368.jpgDSC_0358.jpg_DSC0099.jpg

I've got about 2,600 and some change hours on P-3B and P-3C Orions (most of it was on Charlies) as an acoustic sensor operator. I have a couple hundred hours in S-3A Viking and SH-3G aircraft. I got 2.2 hours in an F-14A Tomcat from VF-33 that I finagled as part of my re-enlistment in 1983. That was a blast. I also have some time on C-121 aircraft.

While a contractor, I got to run with guys at the Naval Test Pilot School and Naval Air Test Center, and they used to get lots of interesting aircraft loaned to them that we would get flights in. I got time in two B-17s, two B-25s, two DC-3s, a Super Constellation, a P-51, a PBY Catalina, Grumman Goose, and a couple of P-2s. I've also got a lot of hours as a passenger in wing wiper birds like C-130s, C-141s, C-5s, and KC-10s. And I have so much time on United Airlines birds that in the 1990s i was on a first name basis with most of the flight attendants. :)

Kallitta used this bird to 1993 when unfortunately a wing caught fire...fortunately on ground
