Guys, pondering EFI or Carb on the 68 runner I have.
Interested in in all your opinions.

Carb or EFI?? Pros/Cons??

I added EFI (a FAST system) to my Road Runner. It is a throttle body unit that looks pretty stock and is hard to detect. My air grabber still works and fits perfectly.
While I have yet to drive the car very far (just finishing the restoration), EFI is the way to go if you will be driving the car extensively. I will be driving across country, and I want to be sure that it works just as well a sea level as it does in Denver - without me needing to tune it.
If you only drive the car infrequently, I am not sure the work to add one is worth the cost and effort - keep it simple...

The ethanol pushers won't force me to EFI. I'll warm it up, and enjoy the not replaceable thrill of the whoooaaa when transitioning from 2-4 barrels. 850 Mighty Demon.

I am so stuck in the 60s it's nothin but carbs for me. Other than that do what your gut tells. That advise has only cost me two or three blackeyes in the past.

I have one of each, and both have their pros and cons. I'd say go with whichever you know better. The cost of EFI, no matter how you do it, outweighs a lot of the pros. Overall I'd say the best option I've seen is a good electric fuel pump with return and a good carburetor. Cheaper than EFI, solves some of the heat related issues and costs a lot less than EFI.

On a new motor you should always start it out on carbs for break-in. Then I would use the intank pump and return and later change the pump to the FI pump, IF I decided to go FI route. X2 on what dpstark2 said.

I also have one of each. The EFI has its pros and cons. Biggest problem with EFI is if something goes wrong, the car doesn't start, ect. you are left scratching your head. At least with a carb you can figure it out and replace/fix whatever is needed. With EFI the troubleshooting is troublesome and usually ends up with a call to the Tech Line. I agree with hsorman.
