This is what I have - 10:1 440ci, stock 915 heads, stock intake and exhaust manifolds. Car has a small cam (450/458 lift purple cam) converter and 3.23 gears. Car must weigh about 3700lbs.

Looking for a Holley carb, what size and can I go mechanical secondaries?

Any recomendations? Presently theres a newer Carter on there (like the Edelbrocks).

I believe 750 is a good compromise. Vacuum secondarys. Maybe an electric choke for trouble free starting. Other's will join in I'm sure.

700-950cfm depending on heads flow, valve sizes, camshaft, rocker ratio RPM's it will be turning.. But for the street a Holley 770cfm Street Avenger w/vacuum secondary's & an electric choke for mostly stock 440 & an automatic trans & 3.23:1 gears... I prefer spending a little more & get a Quickfuel/Holley style carb... formula is CI x RPM divided by 3456 = CFM for a typical 80% of that is efficient usage std. carb on a street car... example for a 0.030" over 4.350" bore mild cam mild heads mild gears... 446ci X 5800rpm divided by 3456 = 748cfm... cr8crshr {Tuck} a member here, is selling a "like new" Holley 3310 750cfm dual feed center pivot floats w/vac sec. & man. choke, for under $200 + shipping {great deal} with some extras like the feed line, I'm not sure or don't remember what else, in the parts sales forum section or just PM him maybe....

I would think a 730 or 750 Holley 3310 series vacuum secondary carb, would work well... Actually for overall carbs, I love the 3310, it works well with most everything, and is very tunable!

So stick with a vacuum secondary carb and skip the double pumper?

if it's primarily a street car & it has an auto I would say yes... get ahold of cr8crshr/tuck his carb won't last long at the price he's asking

For a street car you want a STREET calibrated carb. Forget the double pumper. You want it to run nice and clean going down the road and idle well and the only way to ensure that is with the proper metering block. I'd say no more than 750 CFM and even would consider the 670 if you don't plan on spending a lot of time at 600 RPM.

You also want to run the vacuum advance off the ported port and make sure your timing curve is optimized.

Alright, thanks, I'll get a vacuum secondary carb.
