Carburetor heat soak or vapor lock?

The reason I'm asking about your filter setup, since its rubbing on top, is because I have a 440 in my 67 wagon running an Eddy Performer RPM w/750 Holley and an MP filter unit. The base for the filter is a drop type that only fits the Holley's with the center hung float bowls. If you use this unit on an AFB/TQ/Q-Jet, you need a 1" spacer to make it clear the top of the carb. Counterproductive. There are some units that have a drop base which looks like it was formed over a huge Bagel. Those fit just about everything.

My 383 in 65 Belvedere with carb spacer and flat air cleaner had interference with the under hood insulation. I switched to a drop base air cleaner and no interference.
