Combination Warning Light and Oil Gauge sender?

I want to use a mechanical oil gauge simultaneously with the built in dash warning light.

The internet has nothing on a sender split configuration or "T".
However this image shows it was stock for the Rallye dash.
I have the gray wire for the sender to warning light, but want to make a T out of fittings so that I can send oil to my gauge and also have a sending switch to trigger the in dash warning llight. Any reason this wont work? Why is it so rare?

.. or you can just use the other NPT port beside the current one in use.

Nothing wrong with doing this. Just try to keep fittings short so there's no vibration taking place that could break a fitting.

Big blocks have two ports at the rear of the block and each can be used.

Yep, what they said. I've run both electric and mechanical gauges out of the 1/4" NPT outlet in the rear of my 440
(the opposite outlet has the factory idiot gauge sender in it).
I ran a pipe nipple out of it to get clearance for the sender; a shorter one was all that was needed for the mechanical
line later.

No reason at all. That's how I did mine because I didn't realize that there was another port available, but
either way will work. Damn I need to clean that up.

Mine is set up like Ranger's, but my factory sending unit is quite a bit larger (maybe due to rally dash?). I found an aftermarket gauge extension with a hole on the side where I connected my mechanical gauge.

Small block only has one hole. I use the tee to run factory gauge and after market.

5.2 and 5.9 engines have this part from the factory.

There is some switches that can shutdown the engine for to low of oil pressure, coolant etc. They are 12volt and will protect the engine before real bad things happen. They are used in diesel engines all the time. But I really like the double duty. Let's face it all we need is to loose a coolant hose etc then have to rebuild a engine. Just a thought

What you can not see the steam and temp gauge rising?

You can put a sensor for coolant in the rad overflow tank or the radiator tank. If it gets below the sensor will turn on dash light or you can wire it up for engine shut down. Do the same for over temp also.

"You have a dual female, single male -4 AM block fitting? No, seriously AN is a type of fuel grade fitting with the name devised by the military about 60 years ago. The A stands for Army, and the N for Navy. No?" Beuhler?

Try Summit for your fittings.
