any one know how much to rebuild a auto trans in 97 dodge ram 2500 2 wheel drive with a 5.9 cummins and r and r trans thanks

Depending on what you done, stockish rebuild or handle the power?
2-6k, 6k being the high end with billet shafts, billet converter, etc!

I spent 8K on mine in my 98 4wd. Did all the billet shafts up grade clutch packs, triple disk torque converter. You can add about 1k for the R&R.

Holy crap! How much torque will that trans handle?

Right now 425Hp at 2800rpm and 1005 lbs torque at 1600rpm at the rear wheels. The engine does have a few mods.

I would say so.

The trans is the weak link, that’s why I haven’t done anything to mine.

It depends on the mechanic and what you have done.

In my area, $200- $300 plus parts for stock, and I pull it out myself.

In the real world (not California) a 2wd trans w/a new converter can be had for approx. 3k.

Obviously, higher torque levels mean more money!

Uh I'm assuming we're talking stock and it's only 2wd I'd say around here $1100-1200 that includes r&r but that's an easy job you could probably save $3-400 on r&r if yoy do it your self

Call Dave at Transgo in El Monte CA and ask for a recommended shop in your area
tell him if you race or tow or ???
which trans exactly
