Buy a Utilitech 7000 lumens LED bar light from the Lowes, add a strap and Bob's your Uncle. $31.48 bucks with veterans discount. Other lights specifically designed for under the hood costs a whole bunch more. I have 4 bright LED shop lights on the ceiling of my garage so its pretty bright for general work. But it's a bit shadowy under the hood. This light is bright enough to perform surgery under. But it's not too bright and it doesn't get hot. The light is constructed of metal with a plastic diffuser. Short cord; maybe 6 feet. Photo 1 is just garage lighting. Photo 2 adds the under hood light.
Yep got one for free, mines cordless and its great. Had oil change done and they shut the hood and left it there for me. It was a good day
Not quite as slim lined, I used an LED shop light I had left over. I think mine is more than 3200 but not 100% sure. I had bought 4 of them at $12.00 ea. (on sale, usually 14.99) to use over my work bench, but found I only needed three. Being that there is no glass to break and it doesn't get hot, I'll not only hang it off the hood the way you did, but use it under my car as well.
It all costs more now days. Synthetic oil and $100+ labor rates are the cause. At $1.66/min a 20 min. oil change will run you $33.20 for labor alone. No parts or shop supplies or oil disposal fees. I have been on both sides of that deal and I understand.
Talking about oil or the price of it, I recently went to BJ's to buy Cooking oil and they were out of it. Went to another BJ's and same problem no Wesson cooking oil. Hope this won't be like the toilet paper or kitchen towel problem we experienced last year.
Another item I couldn't find last year in NY was Bread Crumbs. I actually went to PA, Carlisle last summer, and got them there. I'm going to North Carolina for Christmas so probably get the oil there.
