Do you keep a journal or notebook on your car?

I cant remember where the notebook is......

I've been keeping notebooks on cars since the late 80s. I write down the easy tips, the tasks that suck, all maintenance stuff. Rarely do I list the prices though!
I also try to record the mileage of the car at the time of repair. I try to list part numbers but I sometimes I forget to do it. These records sure help support my memory and keep me from repeating mistakes. Also, it helps for things where I have deviated from stock. With all the changes I'm doing lately with the new guages and dash wiring, I need to document what I have rerouted.

When I first got my 67 Coronet I used a notebook to mainly log on the road experiences, and meetings with others in my car travels. Almost every time I took the car out I would meet someone that shared something in common with my car and a car they knew of, or owned that started the conversation.

I remember some really great meetings and conversations.

I went from a notebook to a web blog because allot of what I logged I wanted to share with others.

I need to get back to blogging the car, I haven't wrote anything for quite a while and it is allot of fun recalling all the great experiences.

Google blogger is great to do this type of thing. Here is my outdated blog: 1967 Dodge Coronet Diary... "The Most Interesting Car in the World"

Have fun!

Your blog is great you should do your own facebook page for your car blogs are so hard to find vs seeing it on a feed section.

I jotted down notes during the disassembly of the Coronet. I've referred back to them numerous times during the re-assembly. Hadn't thought about taking notes once the car is ready but there's a number of good ideas on this thread that I'll probably use.

I used to when I was restoring my 47 Buick very detailed book part numbers price where to get it ect also when I bought it and a reference to where the receipt is filed that car was so difficult to fix and find the correct parts for instance the outer axle seals that rock auto sells part number gets replaced a few times but comes out as an exact fit well nope there twice the size so they stick out no good ,so I made notes found the correct org ones (leather) also made notes where I got these from.this book came in very handy but for my charger s I don't bother I know them like the back of my hand .maybe one day I'll do books again I do keep and file all my receipts
