Doctor Diff Viper-Style 13" Front Disc Brake Kit

all rims I've measured usually have an extra inch total for the full width and this is usually stated on the product websites. For example, my 15x8 centerline has an overall width of 9" and my 15x7 has an overall width of 8".

Where did you find an 8.5" wheel? I've been looking for a 15x7.5 wheel to fit perfect with 245/60/15's, but I don't think they make them...

This is an 18" XXR 555. Supposed to be 8.5". Going to be a lot more challenging fitting it, since it's really 9.5"s and that's without the tire on it. What will the total wheel width be, with the rim and the tire? According to my measurements, there is no more than 4" of room to play with in the back of the front wheel wells, with the steering cranked all the way over. I'm starting out with 6.5 inches of rim behind the mounting surface, so I'm in trouble without the tire.

I'm at a loss to explain how Kern Dog's rim fits. If it's a 9" rim, than it's 10" wide without the tire, and the tire does extend past the rim a bit.

To my eye, it looks like his backspacing would have to be more than 4 3/4, but even if it is only 4 3/4, it would still be at least an inch too much without a spacer? My Charger is a 72, but I doubt there is much difference in the suspension and wheel well. Am I wrong?

No spacer, just a 9" wheel with 4 3/4" backspacing.

What is the name of your rim?

Something's not adding up here. I'll measure again, maybe I got something messed up, but I'm thinking that would rub on my car. Do you have the fender brace at the top/center of the wheel well?

The wheels are Intro, the design is Twisted Vista.
No body codifications at all. The brace is intact too.
Did I just get lucky ?

You got lucky if you bought without knowing the backspacing. I can't even find that info on the Intro website, and I didn't find any other sites carrying the Twisted Vista.

I've got the 12" mark on the yardstick centered on the hub. If the total diameter of the wheel is greater than 24", the situation here will be worse.

I ordered the wheels in early 2003. Back then I was able to pick the backspacing.
I had a set of 17 x 8 wheels that I used as a test pattern.

I measured clearance around these wheels to see where I could increase the width. I don't recall the specifics but it looked like the 17s left enough room at the rear to go 2 inches wider, so I did. The front was a tighter fit but I think I just figured another half inch to the outside and inside.
If I get a chance, I'll snap some shots today. I do remember calling Intro Wheel a couple of times to change the backspacing number because I was unsure if the numbers I gave would work.
I'm on my 3rd set of tires. The fronts have always been a 275-40-18. The rears have been two sets of 295-45-18s but I have a 295-35-18 now. I wanted a 295-40-18 but the price was unusually high.

I'm not sure the 14" slotted mags I took off will clear either, and they did before. I think I'll put them back on and see. I bet they rub. I compared the factory hub and the Dr. Diff hub. The Dr. Diff hub mounts the tire about 3/8" further out, so that isn't the problem. Is it possible the Borgeson steering box has an increased turning radius over the factory box? Seems like somebody else would have noticed by now? But what else could cause this problem? End links set too short?

That weird red thing you used as a straight edge isn't accurate but it looks sort of like nearly 3" of back spacing if the straightedge were actually laid in the right place.
My sidewalls do contact the frame rails. You can see the paint worn off in the picture:

Do I see a vacuum line going to your headlight covers?

Since you're rubbing, it seems like 4-5" is indeed the max - do you think you're getting the full turning radius? Could you crank the wheel over a bit further without the tires mounted?

Have you noticed any scrub radius issues?

I just went out and measured. The front wheel is 10 1/4" wide overall.
The rubber hose you see is for the vacuum booster for the power brakes.

I mounted the vacuum pump in the wheelwell just behind the drivers headlights. Why crowd the engine bay when you have other places to hide stuff?
I needed the booster since The fat cam I have produces too little vacuum. I have no vacuum line from the engine to the booster, just the one from this pump.

The line runs through the alignment access panel, then along the fender apron to the booster.

Yeah, it is supposed to be a 9" wide wheel. I never measured them with tires off.
