Does anyone remember when second generation Chargers were cheap?

I always ended up paying too much for my cars. I paid $675 for my 69 Charger R/T 4-speed car in 1984. It was in rough shape. Car was bought out of impound lot for $225 a year earlier, then sold for $450 before I got the car with an extra 440 and auto trans. I got stuck paying all three sale's tax to get the title. I made out OK on it by holding onto it I guess.
A very nice 69 Charger R/T 440 auto sold for $3,000 then flipped for $3,500 back in 86 and still in exact beautiful condition residing just 4 blocks from me.

Of course the reverse of this thread: I can't believe I sold *** for $xx! would be simply cringeworthy.

That's a whole other story, I guess one could say it is all relative, but there are a couple cars that I sold, and then right after I sold them the prices skyrocketed out of sight! The A12 Super Bee and and my 71 Barracuda convertible come to mind.

Right out of high school 1980 I wanted to travel all the US, I found a deal on a beautiful 68 Charger 318 auto. My Dad approved so I got it for 500 bucks. I talked them Way down from a crazy price of 550.
It made the whole trip with only a coil wire and one flat .
Good memories.

As late as 1991, there was a turquoise non-running 1970 318 Charger with a nice body down the street from a friends house behind a mobile home.

No sign, but someone talked to the owner and they said $900, which we all thought was high at the time.

By 1992, it was gone.

I paid $1778 for my first base '70 Charger, a one owner 29K mile car in 1974. After it was totaled in 78, thirty years later, in 2004, I paid 10K for my current car, a one owner all original '70 Charger 500! :)

I currently own my 3rd 67 Cornet 440. I refer to the first 2 as used cars. Funny thing is I have had the same Pioneer FM stereo in all of them.

Man, those were the days. Sounds like most of us were too young to collect cars at those cheapo prices. This is me in my 69 RR I bought in 83 for $1000. The ads are from Auto Trader in the mid or late eighties I believe.
To make things worse, I turned down for free one friends beat but running 71 RR 4speed, and a second friends 68 Coronet R/T with no engine or trans, but very straight and rust free.
