I bought the tool that screws into the seal. Didn't work anyone have any tips or tricks? Transmission is in the car.
Super easy to do... just makes a mess. It makes the shaft seal much easier to install, plus it gives you a chance to clean out any friction material from the bottom of the pan.I have never dropped a valve body. To be honest a little intimidated by it.

10- 1/4" cap screw. Get a LARGE pan to collect the fluid and plan on letting it drip for a long time or wear goggles and a swim capI was 100% intimidated too.
But it was ok as long as you are are deliberate and cautious. There is a ball with a spring that goes against the detent. That can pop out. It's all about putting it back like it came out. There's like 6-8 small screw/bolts and it drops out. Much simpler than I thought/imagined.
