Drive shaft What's this?

Hi Guys...1972 Dodge Charger. I have to pull the drive shaft to replace U joints. I'm pretty sure I understand how to do it, but what is the round thing in the pics? Looks like it's attached to a plate that bolts up to the car. Do I need to do anything with this thing? Thankls in advance....

I wouldn't mess with it, it's very complicated.
