Driving a standard, no clutch wear style

Oh I've done it, and I've been having to since I got my Roadrunner out of the shop because the clutch isn't fully disengaging. I'm wrapping up my dual electric fans install and new 18" flex fan now, then checking a couple of clutch related items.

I learned on an old forklift with no synchros
I speed match but use the clutch but can drive with out
only vehicle I have now is a Jeep TJ with stick

old racers trick
my stepdad Bob did it with his 64 GTO SS/H way back when
clutch for stopping & leaving
he'd do occasionally on his 35 Ford
with a Buick trick Nailhead & a LeSal trans
in his 53 Ford f100 with a 352 & a T-10 too

Bill Grumpy Jenkins was known to cut every other Syncro tooth off &
they called it a crash box
Ronnie Sox, Dick Landy, Mr. 50/50

it's nothing new

I use to do it occasionally showing off with a 3 on the tree
in a 70 Demon with a 225 slant 6

I used to power shift all the time . Fixing dump trucks and 18 wheeler s if you need to use a clutch your not doing it right . As stated take off for the most part !
I had to learn to drive with a clutch to get my cdl I ended up just putting alot of play in the clutch linkage so it appears I used it !
I power shift all manual cars its been some years since I had a stick.oh how I miss it

Power shifting has nothing to do by definition with the clutch pedal.
I power shift and use the clutch pedal, as do many of the manual transmission racers, old and new school.
Power shifting only applies to not lifting off the gas, or shifting under "power" whether you use the clutch or not.
No way would I try a WOT shift only using the synchros.

Paul gave it the correct name.. "Float Shifting". You are correct power shifting is not lifting off the go pedal and slamming the next gear WITH the clutch. I had called it power shifting, in anothe thread, as you have to ADD throttle to down shift WITHOUT the clutch.

Oh well wrong term thanks

Can't help thinking bout it, this may look like voodoo or black magic to the new generations that can't even drive a manual transmission.
Having a stick car is a form of theft deterrent these days, eh? :)

Not here...autos account for its less than 20% of cars sold here and 99% of new drivers pass their test in a manual.....which is odd it for a small congested country..Only ever had 2 autos in about 40 cars...an Audi A4 4.2 V8 and a 2.7CRD Jeep Grand Cherokee....both of which were never made as a manual....everything else had been stick or standard...as you say...manual as we say!

Nice thread guys ! My uncle thought me how to do it. But I must be honest and say I didn’t drive a manual enough to get it down just right.

You have to be one with the car, part of it is listening to it! I've been driving the Bee since I was a kid, same engine and sounds since I was 16. That said I drove my TBird SC 5 speed the same way, it was more feel as it didn't have the muscle car sound....

I learned how to drive on a 1953 International Harvester pick up truck, you had to know how to mesh gears.

Drove my bike from Knoxville to STL with no clutch. Started the engine in gear and if I had to stop I just put it in neutral and shut it off. Easy peasy.
