Dupli-colour vs Plasti-kote engine paint

Im gonna get my engine back from the builder in the next week or so. I was just wondering what type of orange paint you guys used. Heard good and bad things about both duplicolour and plastikote. Not sure which brand is better. Looking for a glossy orange colour..Also should i use a high temp primer before i use the orange. Thanks

Why not buy the proper paint from Mopar Performance at the dealer?

I use the Dupli-color myself. I have been very pleased with the results. I use it on about everything auto related. I don't give a squat about 'original' anything. A real car back in the day would've been modified somehow about the time it came home Be imaginative. Make it what you like.

Maybe they didn't shake the can well enough. I have never had any problems.

I used the mopar performance blue, but it sprayed out very nice, and coverage was good, took almost two cans.

Another option is to use automotive single stage that is activated. I work at a apint store and we put any color you want in a spray can. For engines I use PPG Concept and activate it. The stuff is bullet proof (charger pun intended). The down side is that anything we activate only lasts 3 days before it hardens in the can. DP Epoxy first, then DCC Concept.It never chips, peels, or fades. I have had it on my 68 for 15 years and I just wash it and it looks great. Can take engine heat no problem ,will not do exhaust manifolds.
