Just a big heads-up, Bob Engler has decided for various reasons, to scrap the yard. He's crushed 40 cars this week and will keep clearing as he can. If there is anything you need, better get there quick, and if you have never been there, now may be the last chance to see this amazing yard. 2000 cars, mostly 70s and back, and less by the day. He's on Stairville Road in Wapwallopen, PA. There are still a lot of good parts worth grabbing, even complete big blocks, spread the word.

That's too bad, probably some decent projects & history just going to the crusher... Reasoning ?? who knows... Probably/Maybe either the economy & he needs the scrap steel, iron, copper, aluminum, money $$$$ or some BS Govt. regulations, ground contamination, EPA or something along those line...

Hate to see these old beauties scrapped just so they can turn them into Hyundais & Kias. :angryfire:

Bad timing with scrap prices going down....maybe he's retiring or needs the money or thinks prices are going to fall through the bottom shortly. They've dropped here 20% just lately.

I have been there several times over the years. It is a 6 hr plus ride for me so I usually try to go to one of the Nascar races and head over to the junk yard on Sat for the day. Attached a few pics I took one year.

I do know the area where the truck picture was taken was all scraped 3 or 4 years ago and they had planted corn or something. Not sure if it was the Engler's farming the land or if he was renting it out to someone. I need to take a day off from work and try to get over there and spend the day. I have a Belv project I was not palnning on starting until next year but this is probably my last chance to get anything from Engler's so I need to find some time.

Sounds like you better make it soon, get what you need before it's all gone... "that's too bad & soo sad, such is life I guess"... Maybe Engler's can do better financially, with a crop of corn or leasing the land... I imagine the parts auto-salvage/wrecking/recycle business would/could make money, do they advertise at all ??... You got to do, what you got to do, sometimes... Just Spit-balling here, You may want to mention to them, they could get on a couple of the many, many car forums & spread the word, FOR FREE, that is if they want to save some of the parts for restorations & make some parts money, instead of crushing them all... Maybe they can't sell much parts any longer, looks like lots of rusty stuff or the labor costs vs's crushing are too high to profit on recycled parts or something...

I do not think they do any advertising at all, maybe locally. I just stumbled on it in a magazine about junk yards some years back. It is not to far off the highway but is not in a very populated area. Some stuff is rusty but I have bought some good body parts over the years. Some decent project cars if you like the not so popular models. I liked going to the races when in PA but to be honest spending the day wondering through Englers was the best part of the weekend.

If it has anything to do with the way the state regulations are, and getting.. I can see the why. Getting worse all over with this stuff, Don't know if it is but wouldn't be a surprise. Here is a video i found looking up some information about it.

bump It's a month later since I first posted, that means approx 160 more cars are now gone.
