Always liked these. Thought it was cool they let folks use them and get feedback on how they liked them. I thought is was a good look and the interior was way cool. Think 1963 here folks. Don’t think back to 63 from today, think forward to 63 from what we had in the 50’s. Neat cars!

here a story from one family who drove one

They were out before I got involved with cars but they were interesting.
when I started working for G.E. in the early Seventies I realized what a
Gas Turbine was and then tried to wrap my head around what they were
trying to do. Hey, someone had and idea and they had money to burn
so they went in that direction! It was obvious soon after they actually
had a prototype that this was not the answer. Not too long after that
debacle we got the Hemi! You win some, you loose some!

There pretty cool as a concept car. Not really practical as a daily. I've seen turbine powered hydroplane boats, now those are bad ***! 440'

Honeywell...or Garrett air research at the time had two turbine engine trucks probably loaners from Chrysler they used to run back and forth between phoenix and Los Angeles back then.

My wife, her two brothers and her sister, riding in the Chrysler Turbine Car at the Chrysler Pavilion at the New York world's fair in 1965. The prototype of the 1966 Charger was also on display there!

A year later Donald Campbell set the worlds wheel driven land speed record, at 403 and change, with a turbine powered bluebird. He was the first to make a two way mark over 400, and held the record, even though Breedlove was faster, cause Breedloves car was a jet, and not recognized, not wheel powered.

I saw an example of this car the WPC museum just before it was supposed to close. I thought it was a terrific effort (other than looking like a Thunderbird). Apparently the exhaust was about 1,200 degrees so not practical dropping kids off at school.

It's not a coinsidence that it looks like a Thunderbird,as they were both designed by the same person.

This is a photo of an NOS Horn Button I found for a Turbine Ghia. I enshrined it in a baseball case to preserve it.
