I just don't have those specialized tools available to me so I have to use plastigauge.
I get it. But you place a calibrated chart to the plastigauge to get the reading. Do you best to estimate the tenths based on how far it is between .003" and .004" and then go from there. If close to mid point between 3 and 4, then I'd get the .001" over bearings. If close to .003", then run it as is.

Again, just my opinion. Good Luck!
 
The worst .004" will do is reduce idle oil pressure. Other than that you'll never know the difference. Wouldn't scare me in the least. If your worried run a high volume pump.
Nothing the matter with .003". I'd call that ideal.
