After a long journey with a new motor and trans problems, hit the track for 3 runs last night with the 67 Coronet race car. Basically celebrating our 44 year anniversary together (actually bought it beginning of October 1981). Made one 14 second pass last year then starter issues.

Never made anywhere a full pass and my Co2 shifter did not work and that really screwed me up. Went 9.96 @ 115 mph with a very gentle launch, very short shift that went straight into third then lifted. Its encouraging - the car will be fast per my definition. Last pass was very gentle at least half way to the 1/8th mile, then lifted and went 9.90 @ 135.5 mph. Will get it sorted out this winter to hit the track in the spring!

Looks very encouraging. Must have lots of time and engineering in a car that runs that quick.

Why a C02 shifter. I don't understad putting in a system that can fail in so many ways.

I had one, it worked great. However, i have to admit.....I have more fun personally driving the car myself if you know what i mean. There are many gadgets for consistency, that take a lot of fun out of the run.

What is the engine combo and weight?
Doug
Heavy. I believe its a little over 3500 lbs with me in it, probably closer to 3550. I know what it used to weigh but it got heavier, just don't know how much.

BES (Tony Bischoff) motor. Original megablock I bought new. 574" Molnar crank, Oliver rods. BES CNC ported B1MC heads. 15:1 compression. Not sure of the cam - not sure where I have that info. Made 1060 hp on BES dyno @ 7200 rpm and 838 torque @ 6200 rpm. Titanium valves. Tony says its safe to 8000 rpm. I don't believe him. LOL!

Very cool. I bet it sounds like a beast just idling.

It should be a rocket. I'd love to have those heads. Titainium valves are the key to being able to twist it. My friend had a Bischoff 588" motor with B1 oringinals. I believe it dipped into the 8.6 range at 3400 in a 65 Coronet.

Yeah. The mufflers don't help all that much. LOL!

You need to appreciate the M/T valve covers on a B1MC head. No normal person would ever do that. I have stupid hours in making them fit.

I wondered about that. Interesting choice.

Nice car, nice work! It takes a lot of patience, money and effort to make it all work like that!
