Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

This week was a MAJOR Milestone - This is Great News ! ! !

So this week, after a long time of work and preparation . . . was able to get all of the
electrical items that needed to be completed done. Focusing my attention to the walls
that had wires in them - and getting sheet rock on them - has been completed.

SO, with a bit of fear and concern - the FINAL Electrical Inspection was called in . . .

The Inspector showed up the next day ( Wednesday ) . . . and did the walk through . . .

END RESULT - PASSED ! !

Now just waiting to hear from Duke Power and get a date scheduled to hook up the
PERMANENT power to the building ! ! !

More Later . . .

Congratulations!

That will be a BIG change with power in the building. We want to see some pictures with lights on once you get power hooked up!

Almost had a "Great" Birthday present . . . but ran into a little snag . . . So close . . .

On Tuesday, the men from Duke Power showed up at the house at 7 AM - ready to hook up
the shop with POWER . . .

Got out the mini excavator and got to work to dig the trench to the shop . . .

Considering that this ground is red clay, and usually like Adobe Bricks . . . the ground was very soft and he made
very quick work of the dig . . .

Already at the shop and ready to lay the lines in the ground . . . this was pretty cool as they just walked the lines
down the trench and the spool sat here and spun to let out the wire . . . went very quickly . . .

Then it was the task to get all of the dirt that was pulled out of the trench back into the trench - funny how there
is always MORE that needs to go back in . . .

The connection is made, and completed at the shop . . . now to connect to the street and have power . . .

preparing the pole at the street, to sun up the pole . . .

Everything is all set and ready to make the connection and get POWER . . .

THIS is where we ran into a little bit of a problem - when they were getting ready to make the connection, the
common lead ( the bare wire that runs across the span and is the support for the insulated lines ) was found to
have been chewed on by squirrels and was holding up the lines be a single strand . . .

So the supervisor advised the team to NOT make the connection until the line was replaced and fixed . . .

This morning, again at 7 AM . . . they showed up ready to replace the wire spanning the road . . .

The pole on the other side is connected, and this line man is making the final connections to the transformers on
the other side of the street . . . we're getting SO CLOSE now . . .

And - the meter is set . . . and the shop is now LIVE ! ! ! Finally ! ! !

This is not the end of the build, still got a few things that still need to be done, but the biggest part of this build is
now behind me . . . and yes, there are already 3 projects in the shop that are already being worked on . . .

This week was a great week . . .

More Later . . .
