Been some crazy weeks here lately....Waiting on parts etc, the usual stuff we all go through and working this weekend and the next. Hopefully, I can get the motor painted this afternoon. I have the K frame sitting on my engine/trans homemade install dolly, patiently awaiting 750lbs of pure Detroit steel
The original exhaust manifolds were sent off and got ceramic coated. I know this is a non original appearance as the originals were not coated at all. There is nothing worse than having a beautifully restored car and rusted exhaust manifolds. The driver side is date 7/30/68 pn 2843992
the passenger side 2806900 and date is unreadable but both manifolds are clean..
The heat riser rebuild kit came from Frank Badalson. I just do not use the butterfly. The tool is to install the shaft bushings. The guys at performance coatings coat the whole inside and outside of the manifolds. Great company to deal with. For the ones following you can tell I did not break these in with the break in of the motor. The easier way to destroy any coating on manifolds is improper break in. On initial motor break in setting timing etc generated even higher heats and damages these coatings...So when people do that they will complain a year later that the coating didn't last....
Original clutch fork was redone by Bill Meerholz with the appropriate finishes....
Original inspection plate had minor scratches and a few ding but I massaged all those outing no filler added...Correct hardware for the inspection cover.
Installed the new type pilot bushing from Brewers. Brewers rebuilt my trans and prepped the shaft for the bushing. The RAM clutch unit is from Brewers and is for a stock type motor so I do not have to remove the over center spring...
The original ground strap had good terminals but the casing was in bad shape. The repop does not have the same features on the terminals So I got the correct gauge cable and casing and attached the ends from the original. This is the correct ground strap bolt to the head. The spark plug wire holders are originals with part numbers. The repops do not have these features.
Special thanks to member here Moparparts for getting me the correct ground strap bolt and 2 of the three spark plug holders
