Found a 69 RR in the weeds!

They made 21,278 1969 plymouth Road Runner hardtop with the 383 4 speed combo. Now the hard to find paint code is still only going to make it a $25K car when restored properly.

i have seen I would guess 10 thousand 69 road runners in my live

only ever put my eyes on one 99 99 green car in person , saw a very nice hemi one sell on BJ auction so that two . and now this one . So three in my personal experience . I call that very rare because I seek these cars out .

I wonder if the owner actually has any idea about this 99 99 code? The car has sat in the same spot he sais since 2002, the fender tag was loaded with crap, I didn't have anything to clean it off, so I hocked a few loogies on it, and rubbed it out...it felt good too! haha Glad the camera picked up the numbers. It'll need all new metal, or used good stuff. I may pursue this once the GTX gains some steam. It'll hurt to see it waste away like it is, but, the owner said he'd sell it, but he wants 3500.00 bucks! Too much for me.

I have saw many 99 green cars over the years. But I would agree it is a hard to find color or maybe a rare color.I have seen less silver cars and only about 4-5 Petty blue 1969's over the years.

So, is 99 99 a code you can take to the paint store and get it? There is some pristine original paint on the car, just got to dig it out to find it, perhaps they could match it? I'd hate to see this car get scrapped, or not restored. There is not many useful parts on it, but, it may be a good project for an insane noodnick like myself.

No. The 99 paint code (not 99 99) is a code for a special order paint. If Mary Kay had wanted Pink Satellites to give away, they would have had the 99 code on them.

Remember, the 99 (space) 99 is a body and roof paint code. Two codes, two parts of the body

Humm, I should have know it was that...with the space and all. However, 99 = this green color? Or, you are joe customer going into a Plymouth dealer in 1969 telling them you want a green car, they don't make 'em green, but, for the extra cash, they will mix a green for you, this it's code 99? Humm...

Nope. 99 was the code for a special order color, no matter what color. So if you were looking at a car that had the fender tag stamped "99" but the car had been dipped to strip it, and it had no original paint on it anywhere, there is no way of knowing what color it was.

Your paint code is 99. This was used on special order colors and new colors that did not have a code yet.Your 99 green was a mid year color. It was given a code in late 69 as F6 Ralley Green.Your car was built in May and the color was given a color code soon after that F6. Jim

Rallye Green was introduced for the Road Runner only

in February of 69:

The color was coded on the tag as 97, 97E or 99 depending on the plant and time of year.

Rallye Green is not the same color as F6. They are two different colors. Rallye Green was Plymouth only and F6 was Dodge only. F6 was available late December/early January.

More info on Rally Green and other colors plus the paint formula:

As stated above, paint code 99 was used for any other color that was not specifically recommended for that particular make or model.

Wow, that's the kind of information that is a must to know, gives the importance to rescue/restore this hulk new meaning!

F6 is Ralley Green for Plymouth and F6 is Bright green metallic for Dodge
F6 is the same color for Dodge and Plymouth just a different name as all the other colors were.Example EK2 Go Mango for Dodge and EK2 Vitamin C for Plymouth.Same color, same code, just a different name.

If the fellow that has it is as you say "A Mopar restorer" ,he wouldn't touch anything I own.Regardless of whether the owner came back or not only an idiot would let a car get in that condition!

The Dodge and Plymouth colors are not the same (in the case of this particular green). There's been great discussion of this on the A-12 forum. And if you see them side by side it's easy to tell they aren't the same.

F6 was released earlier for Dodge and Rallye Green is a different color released later for Plymouth.

Maybe but K2 was not available on 69 Dodges and V2 was not available on 69 Plymouths and the topic of discussion is a 69 Plymouth.

Well, this owner I mentioned is by default the owner. A potential client left it there in 2001 (I think) and never came back. Numerous attempts all have failed to locate this original owner. And, there is no title. Yes, sad anyone would let this car get into this condition!!!

Defacto owner huh? Has he done all the paperwork to get a mechanic's lien so he could get a title and LEGALLY sell the car???????????????????????????????????

Don't know. And, frankly he has a crappy reputation in town amongst business people. If I buy it; he'd have to get down to about 1K, and do the paperwork to sell it -- legally.

sure wish this car hadnt detioriated to this. bet it was a beauty in its day
