Got a 22 392 with almost 24k miles with a 8hp70. All wiring, radiator, fans, AC condenser with the transcooler and a few airbox set ups for my 84 RAM. I plan only adding an upgraded melling oil pump to it. Going to do a rear IRS set up also. Wife will probably be driving this one mostly. I just got my engine back for the Charger also so I plan getting started on that 1st. I’ve always been a truck guy and always wanted to do a swb

Gonna be a cool project, but what's this....."with a 8hp70" mean?
Exactly what RemCharger said. The ZF 8 speed. Sublime Technologies has a controller for it that lets you utilize performance mode and just regular driving mode for it. I’ll probably use a Durango knob shifter and make it look it factory in the dash. Another company makes a kit you can use the paddle shifters but I’m not going that far with it.

My cousin has the exact same truck/color etc he built as a street strip. Lowered, flipped axle etc. Ran mid 13s with a mild 360.
Probably get more motor down the road.

Thanks, man.
I love the regular cab trucks. I grew up with those and refuse to accept 4 door trucks for personal use.
I can see the value for those that have kids or a working crew but otherwise, they just are not as sporty.

They just now came out with lowering spindles so Ill use those and get my ride height down with the IRS. They also have a Borgeson Kit for these trucks. Im going to build a factory tilt column for it out of a manual and auto tilt column. These have a rag joint and I like that because it will eliminate any hissing sound the borgeson may or may not put out. It’ll have coil overs on the front and back and should ride and handle good. This is a non ac truck but I’ve already sourced a factory ac set up for it. Im going to paint it back the original color and paint the stripes over the base and clear over it. I’m thinking of putting gen4 or gen5 RAM seats in it with the middle fold down seat with cupholders with drivers side power seat. I plan on overlaying the dash and door panels with leather the exact same color the truck is and seats. Had planned on power windows but the wife said she preferred roll up lol.

I really like those rims. I’ve been debating using something similar. Maybe in black or something like a Hellcat rim or a knock off to get a bit more dish.

Growing up, we thought the long beds were for work, the short beds were for play. Nowadays, they all are cool.
Thats the way we always looked at them but in saying that I think a long bed 4x4 with a lift and bigger tires looks better than a short set up the same way

I have two mid 90's Dakotas....both are reg cab short box. Had a 5.2 with 3.90 gears, also a reg cab swb. Had fun with that one but I also liked my 97 2500 Club Cab lwb diesel pickup when I was towing. Now I rarely drive it anymore.

I want to do something like that with a 68-71 D100 shortbed
someday maybe
Gen 3 Hemi powered, except use a 5-6 speed overdrive Tremec, 3 peddles
lowered so it looks right, not too low, & with all independent suspension

Probably buy a Charger or Challenger that was wrecked, with good drive train
I may just do a later 2010+ (?) 347/5.7ltr with good 'eagle heads' or 392/6.4ltr N/A too,
unless I can find a killer deal on a SRT8 Hellcat/SC or something like it
but that'd probably be more then I'm willing to spend

I have a fast car already, that handles well too
I want a killer driver truck that will handle like a sports car
with late 60's Sweptside 'cool style'

Thats the years we really wanted but found this rust free 84 and just fell in love with it and so did my wife. Thought about the hellcat and they just look awesome in the engine bay buts its just way too much power for my wife and to get one as low mileage and complete as the 392 I got it was the double the money. The 8 speed will be perfect for her as I got a T-56 Magnum in my Charger. After I showed her this rendering she imagined it the factory color and she said she liked it better than the sweptsides so we bought it. I love them all though lol!!!
