IMO.....
WHY do you want or need to re-activate the EGR system? Most or almost all the time, the introduction of EGR in the incoming fuel charge, cripples the performance by lowering the combustion chamber temps to insure or eliminate NOx formation (NO2 - nitrogen dioxide and N20 - nitric oxide), which occur at ~1600°F. NOx is reported to contribute to the formation of photo chemical pollution or SMOG. Newer engines use variable valve timing, gasoline direct injection, high compression ratios, etc, and acieve significant more horsepower, with lower emissions and greater MPG
If you want to present a "correct" appearing engine installation, for your particular model/year, there are ways to have the various EGR components present but non functional. Since your existing EGR system is non functional now, why go thru the effort to reactivate it? Just asking a question....
