We just bought a 2021 Toyota Highlander for my wife 2 months ago. I keep the fob on a clip on my belt. All I have to do is walk within 10 feet of the car and the driver's door unlocks, as well as the rear hatch. There is no way to disable the new technology either. I hate the keyless start, but all new vehicles are being designed with it.
My Kenworth has the old fashioned key fob, that I have to manually push the button to lock and unlock the doors. That also stays clipped to my belt...ALWAYS!!! No getting locked out for me, sorry Al

I also keep a spare key to my Kenworth wire-tied somewhere under the truck. If I don't point it out, nobody would ever find it.
