I got ripped off on my 727 deal now I need advice.

Finally got around to installing the 727 trans and torque converter. Used but supposedly recently rebuilt. Now the TC pattern didn't bolt up to the flex plate correctly. Mine is a 4 leg plate and one bolt hole is slightly off from the others. Turns out the one I bought is a Chevrolet TC. Bastard is 600 miles away. All the bolt holes are radially semetric. Bastard is 600 miles away So now I need a new TC. I don't need anything fancy. Like a high stall or fancy brand name. It a '71Charger with a 383 4bbl. Reccomendations on something that works without dropping big $$$. Ads talk about non lock-up. (Do I need this or maybe don't want it?) Sorry, I'm a babe in the woods when it comes to transmissions.

Thanks for any help.
Been building Chrysler transmissions both stock and race, for about 50 years now, GM converters are not used in a 727. The Mopar transmission has the least space in the flex plate to pump of any muscle car transmission, no room for a GM style core, pump drive is different as well. There are two bolt circles for a 727 and many performance converters have a bigger diameter bolts installed, which I always ask for when buying a performance converter. I think you need to look close at what you have, most likely the right flexplate will fix you up.

Hmmm. If it is a Mopar TC, and based on what we’ve read, what are the chances that the TC was properly engaged with the pump before installation?
