I think I just screwed myself here, shaft seal r&r…

I was stupid to drain it into a waste pan that I use for oil, otherwise I might have reused it. Synthetic atf here is 30.00+ per gal. I’ll throw a gal in
as the pan holds an additional 2 qts. Any idea of the stock pan capacity? Thanks again for the help.

You can safely dump 4-5 qts back into the trans.... Personally I dump the fluid into clean 1 gallon jugs, usually I have a half dozen Antifreeze jugs laying around that I flush with water till clean then use a little brake clean... I use paint strainer filters in the funnel to prevent debris getting into the jug... Back when trans fluid was a dollar a quart I'd dump it... These days if it's still bright red I save it...
When I started using ATF+4, it all got saved for one thing or another. Had to drain a fresh pan of ATF once for what I can't remember but still have at least a gallon or so of that.....

Normally about 6 qts... But often the convertors drains back & you'll have 8+ qts in the pan...
Exactly what happens since I don’t drive my car too often. The seal kit I bought also had a fill tube gasket and an O-ring for the dipstick. I guess I may as well install them as well.

Sure, here’s the parts and vendor. Ebay:
