OK, I.m almost done with my 727 build for the 71 Charger, so I need to pick a stall converter. I have spent two days internet shopping until my eyes are crossed, seems everybody hates Boss Hogg, B&M, and TCI ( actually more like 50/50). Hughes seems to get decent reviews. NOTE : this is not a race car, just a street car poser machine. All these contradicting opinions make these support groups almost useless to me, but here goes anyway.
Car: 1971 Charger,
Engine: "mild" 1967 440 (very mild cam, HP manifolds, choice of several single or dual plane aluminum manifolds, 850 Thermoquad, whatever compression was stock in 1967 , electronic ignition.
transmission : 727 , I upgraded to 4 pinion front and rear planetary sets, A&A transmision bolt in "ultimate sprag", and a new A&A fully automatic valve body with mild shift kit.
rear end: 8.75 sure grip . I have several choices of ratio to play around with 3.23, 3.54, and 3.91.
So since everything is so mild I figure on a mild stall converter too. Somewhere in the 2500 range. This is also the area the guy at A&A suggested. I have also thought of just getting a stock replacement converter at autozone.LOL
What manufacturers am I leaving out? I remember in my youth Art Carr was a big name but haven't heard of him in years.
