Is my steering box supposed to fit this tightly?

I was pulling my battery box to mount my new MSD under and noticed the outward side of my steering box is reeeeeally close to my fender:

Is that normal? Or is my box out of position?

It has the usual decades-o-slop from the worm winding in and out of the sector by about 15 degrees before it starts doing anything, but it feels fine once it's loaded up.

yep that's about normal, there's a lot of stuff crammed in there.

Look under the box at where the three bolts that secure it to the front cross member are located. Is the box pulled up tight or can you see any daylight between the box and frame (cross member)? That will tell if the box has shifted from the original location. Lots of time it seems like "slop" in the box when the box is loose. Good Luck!
