I see this James Farris Leitchfield Ky with tons of mopar parts on Facebook for sale. Google only shows him selling on Facebook. Always has no replies to his ads.. some hints of a red flag

He's looking to join a group I admin.

Is this a reputable person? Has anyone here bought from him?

I think you have your answer right there. There are some Mopar parts for sale groups on FB that are about 99% scams.

Yes. But if he's got that much stuff constantly for sale, someone here must have bought or tried to buy from him directly.

Someone here from Kentucky know of him?

James has me blocked on marketplace for replying to his fake ads calling out his pictures stolen from here warning his potential buyers. If you’re in doubt, ask the seller to post new pictures of the item for sale with his name written on a piece of paper next to the item.

Ok. You’ve seen pictures he post on Facebook stolen from FABO ads.

I’m surprised my google search didn’t pop up anything.

You used Google picture search? I have it circled in red below.

Yes I use Google image search.

I just searched his name. I wasn’t interested in the parts he’s selling. Now this thread should pop up on regular google search to help others.

He requested to join a group on Facebook and I’m trying to determine/justify if I should decline the request.

Was looking for some first hand experience… exactly like you noted with stolen pictures and blocked replies.

Any others ???

We're hearing more & more about all the scammers on Facebook

I like to avoid scammers & so I avoid Facebook & the Facebook Marketplace,
I've never joined for them very reasons
some love it, some claim it's not a problem, great place to sell parts etc.
Obviously, I'm not one of them...

I hear more complaints about Facebook then Craigslist
that's pretty damn bad

If you want to let the dude join,
then make him prove & photo document his stuff
like use a paper/local to his address, from the day, & the actual date etc.
as "proof of life"
if
he resists, tell him flat out NO...
& notify Facebook admin. of the fraud...

Good luck glad you're doing the due diligence too, to make sure he's ligament
not just another for profit scammer/Facebook statistic
& it's good to have conscientious people like you checking & making sure

Farris has been selling stuff on FB for years... never heard any bad stuff about him.

He had a '65 Sattelite for sale a few years ago and messaged him about it. He sold it before I could raise the cash to buy it.

Seemed legit to me.

There's a member that's been a seller for quite awhile here, ''mopar mafia'' apparently from Leitchfield also...not much feedback but all positive.
Same guy maybe/maybe not? In a town with just a spoonfull over 6000 people, two guys selling lots of Mopar parts seems like quite the coincidence?

That’s what I was looking for. Someone that has dealt with him in person.

But the stealing of peoples for sale images is a big red flag.

Although when I checked a few of his pictures nothing popped up. I think really old posts don’t show up on Google images, so it’s not an infallible tool. Any others thoughtsIn that?

You gotta check a few different ways at least nowadays.

I had another request today from a guy with one picture, member of 150 mopar groups, no Facebook profile information, no friends that you could see, zero public posts to see… I denied him.

I admire you for administrating a Facebook group and trying to keep it legit. I belonged to one and a guy there posted my parts for sale so I reported it and they threw me out of the group!!! Lots of scammers on there for sure. What’s the name of your group if you don’t mind me asking…

Just our car club group. Chrysler Performance West. For discussion of our two shows we host, local repair resources, Local-ish Mopar events, local and California car enthusiast info like new laws, smog laws etc...

If you keep posting same event over and over every 3-5 days, I'll delete. If you post shared forwarded pulp, I'll delete. If you post something that you just post to every group and person you know, I'll delete. If it's close to one of our car shows, the post are just going to revolve around our event so people can quickly get info.

No parts/cars for sale, unless it's stuff being sold at our show.

Ok Thanks for the info. I thought it was like a nationwide group like others I joined..

We get people that come to show from all over country. They would go there for latest info.

But not a for sale group nor really a tech discussion group. Plenty of other special specific groups for that.
