It is a *lot* of work, lot of moving parts. You make it look easy!

Got to have the stool LOL, but the TV is awesome! Wish I'd thought of that...

I inherited a two piece pan with the car when I bought it, man do I wish I had just spent the money on the AMD one piece.

Looks like you're off to a great start! Rails look solid. Looking forward to seeing the wheelhouse / quarter work.

the end is near!

FANTASTIC THREAD to all involved! Hats off to eldubb440 for a ton of insight and expertise. I'm just getting started replacing quarters/trunk pan/tail panel etc etc etc on my 69 Charger and this thread has proven invaluable. Thanks again!!!

@eldubb440 Wow, you good great work. I wish you were closer, my '68 is gonna need a splash of paint (long overdue).
At Carlisle this year, I saw the Saratoga you painted - very nice!

thanks guys, and good luck to those who dive in.....it's out of my hands for a while....... I'm craving some 67 :D

I'll toss one thing in here that helped me.

When you go to weld the drops to the bottom of the quarter panel, there is NOT a lot
of room to maneuver there since you're welding from the drop side. I'm still sore from
crawling around under there welding and dressing 'em up afterwards.

I would suggest making some practice plug welds right before getting under the car
and get your whole process dialed in. Maybe even try it with your eyes closed (only
half way kidding). Actually doing it while looking at the weld at eye level is what I had
to do on a few of them that I couldn't really reach from the wheel well. :BangHead:

I don't buy in to Eastwood's "just pull the trigger for a second" to make a decent plug
weld, but I will say these nozzle and pliers came in handy for me. The nice thing about
having the nozzle is it keeps your tip distance consistent, and the plug weld pliers can
help control your motion as you're trying to "swirl" around to get a decent weld with
good penetration.

As hard as it is to get under there to do this, my limited experience is that it's pretty
hard to get decent weld penetration when MIG welding overhead that this is the best
way to go (plus eldubb says that's the way he does it, and he's da man). Thanks again
to eldubb for all the help.

I literally weld every plug weld with my eyes closed, I hear it lol.... I also keep the gun between me and the arc when possible, I never even get sunburned and only had welder flash once, and that was almost 40 years ago..... I use a helmet about as much as I use gloves, which is almost never; just an old dog I guess

Probably muscle memory at this point. :)

My dad was an iron worker, I can remember him putting potatoes on his eye lids to help with welder flash.
