late model hemi into early b bodies

This is pretty awesome!! I am thinking about doing this to one of my cars... A 6.1L Hemi backed by a Tremec 5 or 6 speed, BUT, I would keep the stock appearance on the outside, except for the 10" wide wheels w/ bigger rubber in the rear!!! Very COOL Zach!!

Tin, I'll look at mine in the morning and post what I have it set at. The rev limiter wont go above 4k in park and neutral, so thats right.

Thanks brian, a 6.1 will be awesome and the stick will allow for alot of fun!!

Tin, if you have it all hooked according to the directions, this is what ya gotta do. The blinking l.e.d. light has to be set at 2, in other words, it will flash 2,3,4, times etc., you want it to flash 2 times, and then set the interface, then the tach is set at 4cyl, 2x4=8 and your golden. When you have done that, look at the tach, should be reading around 600 +or- a few as it goes into closed loop. Let me know how you do, and always, call me if ya need to.

Hey Zack, what's going on? I checked my tach, the msd box is set 1&2 on, 3&4 off, and the tach is set to 4cyl, and it still does not read right ( idles at about 400), how is yours? Do the hemi's have a built in rev limiter in park & neutral?

Yes, the gen3 hemi has a park/neutral rev limiter. It is built into the software. Lot's of folks ask me to remove it when I tune the cars. I don't remove it, not a good idea.

I thought so...

I think the rev limit is around 3600 or 3800 not quite 4k. (this is what my 04 Ram does).

BTW Looking good Zack...haven't checked the thread in a bit. Got the harness you sold me back from hotwire...god they do a good job! re-labeled all the connectors and shrink wrapped everything after modding the harness.

Thanks again...

The a/c got charged and works great, but the servo motors wont allow me to go from defrost to floor to dash or anything inbetween. Vintage Air is taking care of me even though I bought the whole schabang about 3-4 yrs. ago under their 3 year warranty. Once this is fixed, I'll be cruising, er hunting chevy's, lol!!!

Vintage air came thru in spades. Turns out 1 servo motor was toast, replaced it, friggin' thing works as advertised. I'm stoked, now I'll be in with the cool kids!!

The cool kids would want you to put on a fart can muffler, 25" wheels and paint it flat black with a few spray cans....not sure I want to be in with the cool kids.
:iamwithstupid:

Putting some donks on it just dosn't appeal to me, lol.

I spoke too soon about the a/c working. While it does blow cold air, it only get down to 60 coming out of the vents and that is not near enough cold air. I drove it yesterday and it was 107 ambient and the vent temp was 80ish, so Vintage Air and the a/c shop are gonna get together on the phone next wed. and try to figure out what the hell is going on.

On a side note, I went back to the car intake manifold after shaving the tits and such off, painted it and now the under hood temps are better, still quite warm from the heat off the headers so I may, during the winter, put some header wrap on.

Here are some of the 6.1 on the car and the car 5.7 manifold all dolled up.

I heard/read header wrap was a bad idea.. it holds in moisture.. ?

Yeah, I heard the same thing. I dont drive in the rain so the only condensation /moisture would come from after cool down from driving.

They are ceramic coated outside thermal coated inside and are mild steel. I haven't made up my mind to do yet and understand what, could, might happen.

I had my m/c header pipe ceramic coated by a guy up in Dallas, also the pistons and skits coated in a teflon substance. The ceramic coating seemed to cut heat by like 10-20 degrees!

truck timing cover modified

I did this so anyone wanting to run the car or 6.1 manifold could do so and ditch the truck manifold. You will need to make brackets for the alt. and a/c, but if you put in a hemi, this should be easy. I can do this on an exchange basis and so pm me and I'll give details. I included a few pics to show what I have done, you may have a different alt. and a.c compressor so your brackets may be different than what I did.
