Got a problem with this style of spring clamp and tire clearance -

It's on the end of a leaf, so it's probably impossible to move it inside the rim.

Could it be replaced by one of these -

And where would I get that style of clamp? This style is readily available -

But when the tab is bent up, it's too close to the tire again. Maybe it's enough of an improvement that it isn't worth worrying about, unless there's something still better out there.

I would just clamp the springs further forward on the spring package
and not fuss with that position.

Yes, and the sheet metal style has a tab that locates in the hole of the end of the leaf. Use a Visegrip to fold the ends over and hammer them flat.

I don't think I've seen one with an extra tab yet, but the ones I've seen say not to make an abrupt fold like you describe, or they'll break. Can you link to the ones you use?

I don't think I've used one in 10 years but, I did many times and none broke. Note the fold on the pictured clamp.

I had the same problem once. Went with a 1/4" Billet wheel spacer.

I'm planning on using an adapter anyway, so I don't have to pull the axles to swap factory studs for longer studs. The rim I want to use has a lot of backspacing though. It would make sense to try the adapter first and see what the clearance ends up being. I don't plan to use these springs for long anyway. "Don't plan to."

I had mocked up a wheel for the back, I think it was a 4-1/2" back spacing. Had plenty of room. Then when I had the tires mounted the buldge was a different story. A bit too close for comfort. So I bought 1/4" spacers and that did the trick. Should have had 4-1/4" backspace. The spacers worked fine and they have never loosened up.
