loud vacum sound

hi to all my fellow americans,and to all others. while driving my 1969 plymouth sattie 383 4brl 727 torque flight automatic..i noticed while taking a cruise a loud vacum sounding noise i think coming from the engine areas.i have heard that maybe my power brake booster is going out.but brakes work fine.also maybe a vacum leak, after work i looked under the car transmission looked fine no leaks or parts missing lol,it shifts fine,also it sounded like a semi truck changing gears ,or like if someone turned on a vacum on steroids.i will try and get a vid up.i am at work at this moment but i can still sneak and look at my message alerts from fantastic people like yourself reading this,all info ,feedback highly appreciated,i am kind of depressed because i have spent all my life savings on this gem,and my wife was kind of skeptical of me purchasing my mopar classic,i know that problems can occur on these beasts,but at least i have all the knowledge from this forum from experienced members on bbodies only.god bless all, and especially our great states of america.

Use needle nose vise grips block off the vacuum supply to the booster and see if it stops

Don't let it get you down. These things are a work in progress and a labor of love. Just remember, it is a 47 year old machine and thus needs a bit more care & maintenance than your daily driver.

Thanks I needed that,I'm at work still and work long hours and I can't wait to work on her.i forgot to mention i think it is the booster.or something not too major when i heard the noise I also heard like a hissing air type escape sound ,thanks again my friends,so it shouldn't be the because the sound was from the front.

I just replaced the round stock air Filter, fram Brand, 2 weeks ago.

Joseph, you have a beautiful Satellite. Took a quick look through your garage and I'm particularly envious of the condition of that interior and exterior.

Yes I know from memory when I start it up the brake pedal is really hard.no play.i will do the check lists you sent me.afrer work,wow,I'm happy I have real friends on b bodies only.its true this is a fun hobby.thanks for the info my friend.i will let you guys know the results in a couple of days.

Hmmm, a giant sucking sound? I'd check the NAFTA valve first.

what is a nafta valve? also i think i found the problem gold member 69 bbody gave me a link on brake booster tests,i did one and it failed the one that was to apply brake pedal while starting .like a vacum sound,not the sucking part,lol just the sound,another words like a tractor trailer starting from first low gear.

lmao.....i get it . i remember that in the 90s..hey i was under the hood last night and heard a exhaust small leak ,flapping sound i seen a small ghost looking white smoke emerging when i had my flashlight on it,the manifold bolt next to the rear, firewall area was loose.tightened it up no more flap noise but still small ghost flames . ps the previous owner did tell me to check those manifold bolts every 3 mos.to tighten, because of vibration from the 383 beast..cheers.

Ghost FLAMES? This could use an explanation....lol. Take each manifold bolt out, one at a time. Clean the threads with brake cleaner and clean the threaded hole with cleaner and a small brush. When cleaner evaporates, put some blue lock-tite on each bolt and torque to specks, around 25 ft. lbs. on an aluminum manifold or 35 ft. lbs. on a cast iron manifold.
