Boxes will physically interchange A B E bodies.
The a-body pitman arm is different.
/6 boxes have bushings inside, V8 boxes have bearings. There is a cast in bumb on the top that tells a V8 box. I don’t have a photo right now.
As I recall the steering boxes from the B vans will work also.

It is small sector (1.125) and in 73’ they went to big sector (1.250).
Define "Economical"....
PST has their manual steering chucks on sale for around $300 occasionally.
New ones are cast iron....Not sure if the weight difference means anything to you.
As I recall the output splined shaft (tapered) is larger diameter on later models.I know this thread is over a year old but I thought I would ask here, I have a 1964 Dodge Polara that needs a new steering box, PST and Flaming River list them for 1966 and up, they can't tell me why it will not work in a 1964, can anyone tell me if it will work or what the difference is? Manual Box.
