Has anyone tried stuffing a 295/50R15 under the fender well of a 71 B body?

Well I did

That tire doesn't even look as wide as my 275/60. There's no tread width to it. It's a 295/50 ?

275 = 10.83" wide
295 = 11.6"
I agree with @tak419 . That don't look anything like 295 wide.
Here's a sample pic of Fred the GTX with 275/60 for comparison:

I'm pretty satisfied with them. It's a lot better than the 245/60 15s that were on there

Okeedokee.
So much depends on the manufacturer. I've had 275/60/15s measure anywhere from 27" to 28.5".

I agree. I'd have to see a pic of a tape measure because those are too narrow to be 195/50's. Look how far away they are from the leave spring. I know on a 71 RR a 295/50 barely fits in the wheel well without hitting spring or wheel lip. His look like 275/60 all day.

On the '71 Charger, the M/T Street Radials I think are about 11" wide on 10" rims with 5" back spacing.
Stock spring location, so there is maybe an inch of clearance between the tire and leaf spring?

That is wierd! That looks like a 255 in the pic.
Mine arent 295's but it has a 11.7 tread width and look huge compared to yours...

I have 4 inch negative offset and there is about 1.5 inch clearance left between tire and spring

I bought some shorts and they were labeled as 34" but go figure they were actually 32"...
