Motorhome Power Plant Chevy or Ford

Because the big "class A" MH's are basically a pimped out tour bus, as where the shorter ones "class C" are on a truck chassis so they are smaller. I have been in the market for a older "Minnie Winnie" so I can find my own gig. The Mopar powered units I've seen are from like 1970-1995, the earlier ones being the Big Winnebago's from 72-77 with the eyebrow nose. And the later ones being a converted B van chassis. They were/are powered by 440's, 318's, and 360's. all with 727's and a huge rear end of 4:57's. So now y'all know.

The one I quoted in the link on the previous page is 27-28', which to me was a comfortable size. Too bad they don't offer the 7.3 diesel as an option.

Thanks! This is great info guys, keep it coming.

I'm looking in the under 25k range. so almost all diesels are out and especially the Prevost. Besides the people I've talked to say they are only getting a mile or two better than gas with the Diesels.... I towed our sleds up to the UP this winter in or 2000 Dodge Ram 360 and got 7.5 - 8 MPG so a gas motorhome isn't going to be much worse. LOL. At .50-.70 a gallon more and twice the cost for repairs. IF I was going on the road a lot I would say yes but for the few thousand miles it may see in a year, it wouldn't pay for it self...

All we want to do is drag the 65 to 4 or 5 races a year and hit some Sprint Car Races like Knoxville or Eldora.... (It's the wife who wants to go to the Sprint Car Races)

If I were to go Dodge I would have to find a Scottie... but they are hard to find and they usually are not big enough for my family... Otherwise I would have to buy a 70's early 80's motorhome with a 440.

I'm kind of roped into a Chevy or Ford... I would rather have the Chev, but Fords are so easy to find. (This is about the only thing that Fords are more popular then Chevy's)
It sounds like a lot of you guys have heard of issues with the V10's. and that's what I wanted to find out.

Was there maybe 1 or 2 years that they were a problem, but after that they fixed the problem???

Thanks again!

So why not get a 2wd 1Ton dually single cab and then get nice trailer with ac?

No no no you idgets.

Mopar powered and NOT a burn out king! Nice, but to ugly.

I'm so pissed at this guy. This was up a couple months ago for 6K, if I had it, I'd be on this like stink on crap! It was nice!! He drops it $500 and stripped it, the bastard!

the big class comes in 35 ft 41 ft and 45 ft all depends on what you want. i know guys that have put together own motorhome and have less than 60,000 in it. it all depends how you build it and with using the big class you also get lots of space underneath for storage or power cell. with some of the power units depends on what you want but i have seen hook ups to supply power to the toy hauler for welding and compressor basic shop on wheels. do the pro and cons then do what you feel is right.

Nice, but to ugly.

When it comes to ugly, nothing beats Dodge's old "Spaceballs" motorhome.
