My friend advised me to pour a crankcase full of old oil on the floor.

I have seen that around here. It works. Now they have companies that come around and put Fluid Film in them.. I have a buddy that does his vehicles every year. ZERO rust on any of them. Makes a mess though where they are parked for the first week..
The first restoration shop I had my car at during its 15 year ordeal, the guy said you should pour clean Dextron trans fluid inside doors and quarters and such as a rust preventative. Then park the car on a plastic sheet for awhile, until it stops oozing fluid all over the place.
I never did try his advice.

Not being weird. That's honestly what he was recommending. It's stored out at his beautiful property so that's where he's coming from with this idea. I can see it with a car that's just a shell but not a complete car. Just wondering if anyone else had heard of this or recommended it. I was 90% against it but I wanted to hear from others.

Yeah.... but which "floor" ? ... Inquiring minds want to know.

I thought he was pouring the oil on the garage floor for whatever reason. :BangHead: :BangHead:
Same, I couldn`t figure out that would help prevent rust on the car outside.

No, I would not pour oil on the interior floor pans of a car even if it was a shell as it will be a real pain to clean it all good enough so paint will stick. As long as it is not exposed and getting wet I would either just leave it or maybe put some good primer on it.

Mice are attracted to the smell of used engine oil.
