I bought a crate Hemi that came out of an E body. The deal included the k member. My question is this: Will an E body K member fit in my 69 Coronet convertible? Or is there a way to retrofit the original 318 b body k member? Or should I just start looking for a b body Hemi K member??
Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Just buy the spool mounts and reinforcement kit Mancini, tti and others carry a lot cheaper it's the Schumacher kit and magnum force makes reinforcement kit that needs to be mig welded in place. After that put in a torque bar with clevis.

I have read many times that E bodies have a different steering box angle than 70 and earlier B bodies. I have not checked this out myself, but I would do some research before swapping k frames.

E and b body k members interchange. Like another poster said, you my need to change your Lower control arms an sway bar if yours is factory equipped with a sway bar.

There is no simple answer to that question. Yes it will bolt in but that might not be the best choice. Is that an original E body Hemi K frame? If so, it is worth a bunch of money so you might want to sell it and then use the money to turn your old B body K frame into a Hemi K. That is what I'd do if it was my car but you might want to go a different route. As others have pointed out there are complications with the anti-sway bar mounting as well as the steering box mount. That stuff may or may not matter, just depends what you're trying to do.

They do not interchange, the steering box angle is not the same. E-body is straight, 70 and down B
angles slightly towards drivers side.

Well, this website says different. https://engine-swaps.com/Pages/ProductsType/K-Frames.html
I’ve also changed then and so have many with zero issues.
So, to the original poster, do what you’re comfortable with and do some digging, you’ll probably find that you can, so long as you use the correct sway bar for the application.
Good luck

Where do I start, I used to think the same thing, I was wrong, but learned....the site you show is for motor swaps, it will bolt in but is wrong and the steering pot coupler is at a bad angle. Look at a 70 roadrunner.. then a 70 cuda, theroadrunner has the steering wheel angled towards the drivers door, cuda does not. A correct 70 roadrunner k is a little hard to find when you need one.

Not my car, but shows e-body k in a 70 down b-body. See the steering column angle. There was a gauge template made by us car tool that allowed you to tell them apart.

I was putting a Hemi in my 65 Dodge in 1995, didn't think of any adapter mounts. I made a pattern from my 66 Hemi k member and cut out mounts, bent them. Cut old mounts off k member but not steering and welded my home made mounts to the engine. Dropped it in place tacked mounts to k member. Pull pulled motor and hard welded the mounts. Just make a pattern of e-body engine mounts and put them on your old K-member and sell your big bucks E- body K member.:icon_fU::icon_fU:

Great suggestion!! Thanks

One thing on left mount, the bolt from front to welded nut in the rear you need to add a tube between. With no tube you'll crush the mount. You'll get what I mean.

Great suggestion!! Thanks

If you don't have the tools or time to make your own Hemi mounts there are people who convert V8 K frames to Hemi K frames. It costs less to convert one than to buy an original E body Hemi K. If the K frame you have is an original E body Hemi K then it is worth a big chunk of change since they didn't make very many of those. You'll have to figure that out which is a different thread. Post pictures of it and people should be able to tell you what it is.

Well, I’ve been schooled, thanks for the info.
