Need some advice -- Real barn finds

Sadly, if those cars have been sitting on dirt for 20+ years there may be rust underneath. Need to get them cleaned up as others have said to assess the true condition. Hopefully no rodent homes / leavings.

Get em cleaned up and get the numbers. Get some help decoding so you know exactly what you have. There could be a substantial difference in price depending on what the numbers say. You have a minimum 25k with the pair. Numbers could raise that price. The 6 pak is worth more seperately.

The transmission is trying to slither away.....

I would wash the Charger up and get it running. Then I would ask about 22k
I think you are close, between 18k and 22k. It will take another 30k to put that car right. I think an owner would be okay at $50k all in. Maybe a little more.

As a seller, the OP needs to get what he can. The cleaner and more honest the presentation, the more interest will be generated.

30k to get it right...thats a laugh......

The going rate for a nice paint job from a reputable shop with minimal bodywork starts at that.......Even the guy doing it at home would be well over that cost.....Unless your turning it into a beater.....I should know I have restored many chargers.....

Well, I guess you are the expert, in Ohio.

It don't get "done right" for 30k in Indiana either. I guess your Texas "done right" and the Mid-west definition of "done right" are vastly different terms.

It don't get "done right" for 30 large here is socialist Marxachusetts either. In fact, I don't think it could be half done "done right" for that paltry sum.

It depends on how much work you do yourself. If you outsource a lot the cost does go up. Not sure why you felt the need to take a dig on the Texas vs entire Midwest unless you have some beef with Texans, or your just a douche. If it makes you feel better, good for you.

Not a dig on anyone at all; it's just facts.Your 30 thirty grand is a number you pulled out of the air rather than a number based on facts. Some understand the costs of a restoration & some refuse to believe the cost of a restoration, but those of us who have been through it several times do know.

Add up all costs of a complete repro interior, rebuilt front & rear suspension, cooling system, wheels, tires, steering system, brake system, fuel system, gauge cluster rebuild, (possible) glass, wiring, fuel & brake lines, finding missing & repro parts, replacing/restoring trim, vinyl roof and you'll see that these items alone are over 15 grand.....and we haven't even touched the body & drivetrain yet. In fact, once you think you've realistically figured out the true costs of a restoration, you should add 30-50% (depending on how accurate your initial figures were) for things that you forgot and incidentals.

Honestly, you ought to listen to "those who know" and ask questions to gain knowledge rather than insulting them.

Have a nice day.

Mr. rlem1977. The only "dig" I saw was yours on Moparnation's credibility and the state of Ohio. I merely stated that costs here in Indiana are much like what he described in Ohio. Therefore your stated costs in Texas must be much less than the Midwest, or the term "restoration" means something entirely different in Texas. There was NO "dig" intended or implied towards Texas or Texans. Although quite frankly, I didn't realize some of them are so "thin skinned". As for how I feel, I actually felt a lot better BEFORE this exchange. I get NO pleasure from arguing with you or anyone else on the board, however I don't KISS ANYBODY's *** to get along, including yours. I tell it like I see it, you don't have to agree with me.

RC, thanks for your reply. Although I can defend myself pretty well yet, its nice to know when someone has your back. And it shows once again your experience/expertise with these cars, both of which are greatly appreciated here.

Actually, Mr. Moparnation only recently moved to Ohio, from Texas, so he is very much aware of pricing at a body shop in that state.

Thanks for your clarifications and advice. I took things too personally and was highly irritated yesterday with work. I thought the forum would be a little distraction to relieve my stress but I guess my stress came through. My apologies to you guys and the OP for screwing up his thread.

The pricing is the same in the DFW area as I mentioned above......
