A year ago i sold a base 68 383 car with a buildable 440/auto car needing a little more metal than this for just under what has been quoted here. Being a real R/T it will be higher. With patience it will be in the low 20s. Regardless of opinions on what the market may do someday there is interest from around the world on 2nd gen Chargers. Like it or not. That is just a fact. There are more people interested in these cars besides the baby boomers in the US. Yes i agree some other car models have become softer in price but the Chargers have not.Yes I know the charger is worth some real money but again, its an Auto, motor locked, and sitting for years. Its an RT which is a saving grace, but still needs a ton of attention.
And you wont be having a 69 Charger R/T any time soon. I hope you guys are right and the prices drop someday. I will be buying them up and driving the **** out of them. I just dont see that happening any time soon...Ya'll are probably right. I am glad I bought my 68 before prices became so competitive.
I personally think its a 15k car on ebay and I wouldn't pay more then around 10k for it.
Its funny how your "opinion" on these cars seems to be more important and accurate (according to you) than what others may think on the issue. You over and over tell us all that WE are wrong, and you have it right. Well, I guess time will tell. Check back in on this issue in another 10 years and we'll see who was correct then. And you wont be having a 69 Charger R/T any time soon. I hope you guys are right and the prices drop someday. As far as price i am relating facts. I have sold 2 1968 Charger projects and bought a 1968 Charger R/T project in the last year. I dealt with people across the country and 2 foreign buyers. The OP wants help with the value of these cars. He didnt ask where the market is going in the future and he surely isn't interested in people moaning about todays prices. Its funny how your "opinion" on these cars seems to be more important and accurate (according to you) than what others may think on the issue. In the meantime, remember it is just YOUR opinion, nothing else. You know what they say about "opinions", everybody has one and almost all of them stink.
In closing, I fully understand you MAY be correct, but I may be too.![]()

Look. The OP wanted to know what the cars are worth. Recent selling prices set a range of what something is worth. I sold 2 to buy the car i have wanted for a long time. I am not in the business of flipping cars. I will not be selling my Charger. I am simply stating that the OPs Charger is worth low 20s. Start an asking price of 25k and come down. That is my advice to him. It will sell in that range. Good, bad or otherwise. What is a fact? What you say it is? Or have you scientifically proven this price to be "fact". If so, the price will never change. If not, it is only a "theory" or in simpler terms, "Your Opinion". You don't need to try to convince me of your "credentials" on Charger's. So you've sold two and bought one, so you'll be soon selling another project car it sounds like. Yes, you have some price experience, so do I, but it doesn't make it "Fact". Its just what YOU paid, and in your "OPINION" it was the right price, either that or you didn't know any better. Doesn't make it a "fact".
I really don't care a rat's a** what the going price is and I'm not moaning about it whatsoever. Go ahead and pay ridiculous prices for projects that will cost another small fortune to bring back to running driving condition, I don't care. I've been there, done that, and "in my opinion only" (this isn't a "fact") those types of projects are not worth the money and effort required once completed.
Personally, I believe the source of the high prices on Chargers is exactly people like you. Everybody wants a Charger because they get all the publicity (movies/TV/etc.) and the ill-informed car buyer's decide that is the car they HAVE to have (they really don't know any others). So they spend ridiculous sums of money on a poor project that never goes anywhere because, (1) they are in over their head on the amount of work required and (2) they underestimated and have run out of resources to finish the project. So the whole cycle begins again, unrealistic Charger owner tries to sell his unfinished project for a ridiculous price, and new starry-eyed Charger buyer is faced with paying a ridiculous price on a marginal project car to get "into" his dream car. Repeat process a few years later. To address your last sentence, I personally DON'T KNOW where the market is going and DON'T care one way or the other, and don't have "FACTS" like some experts think they have. If I want a Charger, I'll BUY a Charger (or two, or three if I want) at the going rate whatever it is, and they won't be run down project cars either that sit around and then get sold off to the next guy who thinks he can "buff it out" and drive it.
NONE OF THE ABOVE OPINION PIECE IS PRESENTED AS "FACT".
To the OP, I wish you the best in selling and hope you get a fair price for your cars. Start HIGH, if they don't sell, come down until they do. That's the price their worth, simple stuff.
But beware of people who know "FACTS".![]()
MM you are comparing reality of costs of a full restoration versus the crazy prices people are getting for unrestored cars......What is a fact? What you say it is? Yeap....and I cannot tell you how many off these so called "projects" have been popping up unfinished with new parts packaged in......Reality falls when checks get stroked and the dream being sold from TV etc....turns into a unobtainable dream.....And if you are going to restore a car and end up in the red it best be a car that you really like and want. This hobby is no different than camping, boating, hunting, traveling or countless others. If you are doing it for enjoyment good. If you are doing it for a profit maybe you need to rethink things.
Yeap...it happens but most I have personally known have not been that.....Sad when creditors come looking.....Guys that make decent incomes and in over their heads....And life throws curveballs all the time. I cant blame people for getting in a bind when things in life go wrong. Deaths, divorces, illnesses etc put hobbies on hold. Sometimes temporarily. Sometimes permanently.
The OP is in that spot right now. His brother died. The estate has medical bills to pay. Cars have to go to pay bills. Life sucks sometimes. Enjoy the good times.
Let's see if we can help the guy out.
