Shopping for a new cross over, suv, station wagon.
Currently have an Chevrolet Equinox and looking for similar vehicle.
Most are showing the S & S systems [stop and start].
What is out there without the system, bypass control or after market bypass that does not void the warranty.
System seems to be most annoying.

Thanks

You can disable that S&S crap within it's own computer.....at least on most models from what I understand. My BIL just bought a new Jeep SUV and he was able to disable that one.

I drove a GMC Terrain with the 2.0 Turbo (252 HP) and it scooted pretty good.
I did not notice "start/stop", but on many vehicles you can disable the feature in the vehicle options menus.

My mom has a BMW that could be disabled permanently. But, her new VW has to be disabled every time you turn the car on (by a button near the gear shift).

You can't go into the vehicle options menu to disable it 100% like 451 mentioned?

Not easily on the VW. While on some cars it is a simple change, this one if more complex. Only way to do it was to mess with the computer to make the car think the battery voltage is low, therefore it doesn't shut off. It won't try to overcharge, but you are messing with the computer at that point and I would be worried about messing with the warranty at that point.

I had the dealer disable mine at my request. 5 min job.

2018 - F150.. pop dash open, pull button out, jumper the switch wires for a permanent disable! Did it 3 days after getting my new truck.

It's on my company car. I have 13k miles on it and it's just the new normal.
