Paint color names

Does anyone have any idea why dodge had there own names for mopar paint colors? Example Plymouth/Chrysler FE5 rallye red but dodge calls it bright red.

Was Chrysler and Plymouth the same division?

No. Chrysler, Imperial ('55-'70), Plymouth, and Dodge were seperate divisions. Typical Chryslers and Plymouths were sold at the same dealership. It was rare, at least where I came from, to see a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealer. There were some.

I have a collection of 70 to 76 Plymouth and dodge Service manuals I noticed that the Plymouth and dodge manuals are pretty much the same. Why didn’t they have one manual for both? Chrysler got smart and Decided to combined them to one in 75.
